I had a message from him waiting on my cell when I finished class, making me promise not to be late because he had plans.

As soon as I get to a point where I can stop, I pack up and say goodbye to the guys, impatient to get home to Kane who's been alone all day. Brax once again tries to convince me to come back tonight, but I once again turn him down.

With a hug to each of them, I head out of the library and almost skip to my car in excitement.

I blast Billie Eilish as I make the short journey back to Rosewood. I swear it takes longer than it has all week, but excitement and anticipation for what tonight might hold getting the better of me.

By the time I pull up on the street outside of Kane's house, my hands tremble with my barely contained excitement.

I stare at the house for a moment, wondering why all the curtains are shut. He's here, his car is sitting in the driveway.

My heart thunders as I consider the possibility of Victor or his henchmen turning up, but then I spot the curtain twitch and Kane's face appears briefly at the window.

I messaged him on my way to my car so he knew when to expect me, and it seems he's as impatient as I am.

Quickly, I grab my purse and jump from the car, damn near running for the house.

I twist the doorknob the second I can reach it but find it locked.

What the fuck?

Curling my fist, I knock on the door, more confused than ever.

Footsteps head my way before the door is pulled open and Kane stands before me.

He looks better than he has since his ordeal with Victor. His hair is freshly washed and styled in a way I haven’t seen since that day and he's dressed in something other than a hoodie and sweats; a smart button-down and cargo pants to be exact.

"Whoa, hot date tonight, Mr. Legend?"

"Yep, just waiting for my girl."

I glance over my shoulder as if I'm looking for someone. "Oh, should I go?" I ask with a smirk.

"No fucking chance." Reaching out, his hot fingers wrap around my forearm and I'm tugged against his chest. "I've been waiting all day for you, you're going nowhere, Princess."

I don't get a chance to look into the house to see what he's done, instead, he distracts me with a knee-weakening kiss that I feel all the way down to my toes.

"Missed you, baby," he whispers against my lips.

"Missed you too."

"Are you ready for your date?"

"I am."

"Good."

"What the hell are you doing?" I ask when he spins me around and presses his hand over my eyes.

"It's a surprise."

"Okay," I breathe, allowing him to guide me into the house.

He takes my purse from me and puts it down somewhere before he presses the length of his body against my back.

"Ready?" he asks, and I nod against his hold.

He slowly removes his hands from my face and I blink a couple of times to clear my vision.
