"So she's dead then," he deadpans.
"I don't know. He looked quite excited to get the chance to play with her."
"Of course he did. She's totally his type."
"What, a whore?"
He throws his head back and barks out a laugh. "I was going to say blonde but yeah, whore works just as well."

With Ellis's help, I eventually drink myself unconscious and when I wake again, the sun is streaming through the open curtains and I've got the hangover from hell.
"Jesus, fuck," I mutter as I roll over, shoving my face into the pillow to block out the light.
I'm just drifting back off into oblivion when everything hits me once more.
She slept with the fucking twins. Pain slices through my chest.
It shouldn't hurt this fucking much. I shouldn't care this fucking much.
Especially when I'm just as bad.
Reaching down, I realize that I'm still wearing last night's clothes. I slide my cell from my pocket and hold it in front of my face to see the time.
"Fuuuck," I groan when I see how late it is before I notice the number of missed calls I have from Reid.
Tapping the screen, I move it to my ear as I call him back.
"Afternoon," he booms through the speaker.
"Shhh," I hiss.
"Went out celebrating that you're not having a kid with the devil incarnate?" he asks, amusement filling his voice.
"Something like that. What's she saying?"
"Fuck all but I'd put money on it all being a setup. She might be a stubborn bitch but I don't think she did this alone."
"What are you thinking?" I ask, but I think I already know what he's going to say.
"Victor."
I groan as he says the name I was dreading.
"I need out, man. I can't fucking do this anymore."
"I know. It's gonna happen. I just need a bit longer."
I groan into the phone again, rolling onto my back and throwing my arm over my eyes.
"I'll call you when I find more out. Just trust me, yeah?"
"I know, I know. I just…"
"I'll get you out."
I hang up, not feeling as confident that he's going to manage it as I probably should. I want to trust that he can do it, but I fear it's going to take too long. I need to focus on classes and football if this is going to be my life or I might as well just walk away and become a senior member of the Hawks.
