"Is that right?"

"Yeah. I meant what I said last night, Luc. We're done. You took your hate out on me, you used me, punished me. We ar—" His hand quite obviously slips under the sheets as I rant at him. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Your fire makes me hard. Always did."

My chin drops as my eyes take in the movement beneath the sheets.

"Unbelievable. Fucking unbelievable."

"If you wanna help me out, I might even make it worth your while this time."

His nice act doesn't fool me for a second.

"I'd rather fuck a corpse."

His eyes widen at my response.

"Your loss. You could really do with letting go."

"No, asshole. What I need is to go home and get back to my life instead of being locked in here with you," I spit. "I stupidly thought that there could still be something here for us, but you've shattered all that hope. You're nowhere near the same person I once knew. This new version of you, well… he's a cunt, Luc. I fucking hate him."

I swing the bathroom door closed so hard I'm surprised it doesn't fall off its hinges.

I scream in frustration, not caring that he can hear me.

I pee, brush my teeth with my finger, and rip the door open once more. I hesitantly look at the bed, dreading what I might find, but to my relief, it's empty. Instead, I find him pulling his jeans up his legs.

"I want my cell and I want you to unlock the door."

He looks up as if he wasn't aware that I was here, although I know he does.

"Fine."

Opening the closet behind him, I watch as he taps in a code to a safe and produces my cell.

"Key?" I demand, holding my other hand out.

His eyes hold mine for a beat, conflict battling within them, although I have no idea what he's confused over. He hates me as much as I do him now. Why could he possibly want to keep me here when he's made it perfectly clear how he feels.

After long, agonizing seconds where I feel like he might just be about to say something that's going to shatter all of my resolve, he places the key in my hand.

"Thank you. Me and you. Whatever this has been. It ends the second I walk out that door. You get on with your life and I'll do the same with mine." I'm aware that this means having to cut ties with Ella and Letty, seeing as they seem to be his friends, but I've only known them a few days, it shouldn't be that hard.

I spin on my heels and storm away from him, swiping my purse from the counter as I pass the kitchenette on my way to the door.

I'm halfway across the living area when a loud knock on the front door sounds before it rattles violently.

"Luca, I know you're in there. Come and open the fucking door," an angry yet familiar voice calls.

"Fuck," Luca barks behind me, clearly knowing exactly who it is.

"Too late to be ashamed, Luc. You should have listened to your conscience a good few hours ago."

Not even bothering to look back at him, I march toward the door. This time when I twist the key it actually works before Leon barges inside not a beat later.

He scans the room quickly before his eyes land on mine.

They go wide almost instantly before he does a quick lap of my body.
