"Seriously, it's over. We've said what we need to say and we're leaving it all in the past where it belongs."

"Peyton, don't lie to me," Leon growls, sounding entirely too much like his brother.

I'm sure most people can't see the similarities between them, but after being attached to Luca's hips for all those years, I see them.

"I have a feeling that things will never be over when it comes to you and Luca. You've been gone years but you were never forgotten. Letty might have done a good job of filling the void, but you're a piece of him, Pey."

I shake my head, refusing to believe it.

"That may have been true once upon a time, but it's not anymore. There is no Peyton and Luca anymore. It's over."

"What happened, Peyton? How did you go from being as close as you were to… well, nothing?"

Lifting my hand, I drag my hair back from my face.

"I just… I told him something. Something he didn't want to believe."

They both stare at me with blank expressions. "Is that really all you're going to give us?" Letty asks.

"Yep."

"He came to see you last night, didn't he?"

I nod, thinking of our brief encounter in the back room at the club.

"What happened? He never came home and no one's seen him since. He's not picking up his cell. I'm worried."

"Yeah, he did and I once again told him something he didn't want to hear."

"Fucking hell," Leon mutters, scrubbing his hand down his face. "Any idea where he might be?"

"I don't know him anymore, Lee. The Luca I used to know died a long time ago."

His lips part but he swallows the words that were on the tip of his tongue as he studies me. "Do you really believe that?"

"He's not shown me any differently."

"Luca's… Luca's not in a good place right now—"

"You don't say," I deadpan.

"He told our dad that he's thinking about quitting the team, everything, yesterday."

"He did what?" Letty gasps.

"Then he came to you—"

"And I sent him away."

Leon blows out a breath and drops his head.

"Okay so… where'd he go?"

"I already told you, I don't know—"

"What?" he asks, looking up as if I'm about to provide him with the answer.

"N-no. It's stupid."
