Luca

Something hitting me in the stomach drags me from my fitful sleep.

"Go away," I mutter, already knowing that the second I open my eyes or allow reality to seep in that I'm going to be hit with the hangover from hell.

"Unlikely motherfucker."

I groan at the sound of Leon's voice. He moves, his clothing rustling but still, I refuse to even crack my eyes open.

My temples begin to pound as I try to ignore the fact my mouth is like the fucking Sahara.

I knew it was a bad idea. I fucking knew, but I did it anyway. It was the only way I could see out of the hell that yesterday descended upon me.

"How did you find me?"

"How do you think?" His voice is closer, telling me that he's getting himself comfortable for the long haul.

"Fucking Peyton," I complain, hating the way my chest aches from hearing her name pass my lips.

"Talk to me, Luc." I hate the desperation in his voice. Fucking hate it.

We've never been the kind of brothers who do the heart to heart, heavy shit but it seems that might be about to change.

Unable to see a way out of this, I roll on my back and rip my eyes open.

I regret it the second the blinding sun fills them.

"What time is it?"

"Almost midday."

"Jesus."

My stomach lurches as I attempt to sit up, last night's cocktail of alcohol threatening to make a reappearance.

"Here," Leon says, passing me over a bottle of water and a bottle of painkillers. "I had the suspicion you might need them."

"T-thanks."

Twisting the top off the bottle, I down half before throwing two of the pills into the back of my mouth and laying back down.

Silence stretches out between us for the longest time. I’m trying to come up with what to say, how to even put how I'm feeling right now into words and thankfully, he doesn't push me for it.

"I have no idea what I'm doing, Lee. All this shit is happening around me and I have no idea how to deal. Then she showed up and fuck." I lift my hands to my face, scrubbing over my skin. "I don't know. I just lost the fucking plot."

"Yeah locking her in the pool house screams fucking psychopath, Luc."

"I just…" I sit forward once more and drop my head into my hands. "Fuck."

"You never stopped loving her, did you?"

I look over at him, shocked that he's ever said the words.

"W-we were just kids, Lee. I'm not sure—"

"Don't lie to me. I was there. I saw the two of you with my own eyes. Hell, I fucking hated the two of you for a long time because of what you found."

"You did?" I ask, concern pulling at my brows.
