“Basically.”

“That’s so hot. So amazing, I mean. I mean, that’s … wow. I knew it!”

“What did you know?”

“Nevermind. That’s so sweet of you, Chris. Looking out for Ella Mae like that.”

“I’d do it for anyone.”

“I’m sure you would.”

She looks like she doesn’t mean that. Whatever. I would do it for anyone.

“So, while my friend was monitoring BeefItUp, and Ella Mae blocked that account, he saw something. So, he called me. And he told me that BeefItUp started a new account.”

“ImSOBeefy!”

“Bingo.”

Go Meg. That was great deductive reasoning.

“I knew his creepy vibes were all too familiar,” she says.

“Well, here’s the thing. We could try to get Ella Mae to block ImSOBeefy. But obviously this guy is going to keep creating new accounts and following her under each one.”

“Yeah,” Meg says. “ImSirLoin, ItsTheFlank, HeresTheBrisket, APoundofGround …”

I laugh. She keeps going. “TheMostPotRoast, RibEyeGuy, BoneInRumpRoast, RawhidePride …”

“Right,” I say, cutting off Meg’s recitation of all things beef. “So, blocking him isn’t the answer, obviously.”

“Obviously.” Meg nods. “He’s not going to give up. Blocking him doesn’t keep him from coming back.”

“I had made a suggestion to Ella Mae after I did some research on stalkers and online threats.”

Meg looks at me, obviously ready to go all in on whatever suggestion I make.

“I told her she should give the impression that she’s in a relationship. Stalkers or guys who make inappropriate comments on influencers’ pages are less likely to do so when they perceive the influencer is committed to someone.”

“But she shot you down?”

“Basically.”

“Bet you’re not used to that.”

“To being told no?”

“To a woman saying she won’t date you.”

“How did you know I volunteered?”

Meg crosses her arms over her chest and looks at me from under a raised brow.

“Okay. I offered. Only because it makes sense. I’m available. I know the situation. I’ve already been in her posts.”

“Makes perfect sense to me.”

“Only, she said no. And you know her.”
