She nods, and I help her to her feet. We move quietly into the bedroom, and I help her get her shirt and bra off. She winces a couple of times, but I manage. Once we’re naked, we slip under the covers, and I gently gather her to me.
I dip my head and kiss her forehead. “Guess no more fooling around for you for a week, huh?” I tease
“Probably not. Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. I’m here to support you. Maybe you shouldn’t lift the baby for a few days.”
We’re quiet for a minute, then she sleepily replies.
“Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow.”
“I hope so. I love you, Fiona.” Before I get the words out, she’s snoring.
I lay in bed with the woman I love in my arms and my son sleeping mere feet away. Life doesn’t get any better than this.
I think about how close I came to losing it all today, and I swear I’ll never let anything hurt them again.
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
Shine—
At ten minutes to four, I roll up at the clubhouse.
I didn’t leave Fiona until her mother came to take over and help with the baby. Janey and Ella were downstairs running the shop when I left.
Dismounting, I immediately spot bikes belonging to my president, Daytona and Trick, our VP, who must have made the ride over with him.
I hang my helmet on my handlebars and walk inside.
Rafe and Kyle are at the bar, but the minute I’m through the door, they’re in my face.
“My father’s not the only one who wants to beat the shit out of you,” Rafe says, his arms folded.
I lift a brow. “Take your best shot, brother.”
Kyle flings a hand out, holding Rafe in check. “We want to know what you’re planning to do about our sister and Dylan.”
“That’s between us, but I’ve got a sister, so I get your concern. I’d feel the same way you do if the situation were reversed. So, while I don’t like having my motives questioned, I’ll tell you I love Fiona. I plan to make us a family, and I plan to do everything I can to make her happy. That satisfy you?”
“It does if you follow through,” Kyle states.
“I will. Got my word.”
Rafe studies me, then finally nods once, and jerks his head. “They’re in Cole’s office.”
I head down the hall and tap on the door.
“Come in,” Cole hollers.
The room is crowded with Cole behind the desk and his VP leaning against a credenza on the side wall. Daytona and Trick sit in chairs facing the desk, and Wolf stands next to Crash with his arms folded.
I stand in the only available area left by the door.
Cole meets my eyes.
“How are we gonna work this out, kid?”
“Fiona is not moving to Vegas,” Wolf snaps.
