Her breasts bounce with every slam of my hips, and my eyes lock on them. I dip my head and suck one, then the other.
The sensation sends her over the edge, and she bucks and clutches me.
I go rock solid against her, coming long and hard, then collapse on top of her, my chest heaving.
Her hands trail over my back.
I rouse enough to press a kiss to her cleavage, then lift off her, roll to the mattress, and gather her to me.
We stay cuddled that way until our slick skin cools and our breathing returns to normal.
Desiree goes up on her elbow, and her fingertip traces over the ink on my chest. I follow it as it trails along my skin.
“So, this guy you’re looking for,” she begins.
My eyes snap to hers. “Yeah? What about him?”
“What’d he do wrong that made you want to kill him? I’m assuming that’s what you’re planning, right?”
“He doesn’t deserve to walk the face of the earth.”
She holds my gaze, waiting.
I sigh. “He raped my kid sister.”
Her demeanor changes in the blink of an eye.
“Oh my God,” she whispers. “I’m so sorry.”
“The only reason the motherfucker is still breathing is because the law got to him before I could. I’ve been patiently waiting five fucking years for his release. Now it’s time he got what’s coming to him.”
“Is your sister okay?”
“Okay? Hardly. She’s never been the same. Crissy used to be so full of life, always a smile on her face. Now she barely leaves the house. And she doesn’t want anything to do with men. It’sa real shame, too. She would have been such a good mom. Now she’ll probably never have kids.”
“That poor girl. I’m so sorry.”
“I failed her. I should have been there. I should have protected her.”
“How did it happen?”
“The motherfucker grabbed her from a parking lot. Took her out to some field, beat her, and left her for dead. She’s lucky to be alive. She managed to crawl to the road and wave down a car. I’m sure that asshole had no intention of leaving her alive.”
Desiree swallows and relaxes against me, her arm wrapping tight around my chest. I’m sure she doesn’t know what to say. What can anyone say but how sorry they are? I don’t know why I told her, but her arms tight around me now brings me some peace and takes some of the rage out of me.
I stroke her head and press a kiss to her forehead. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have dumped all of that on you. It’s not a pretty story.”
“It’s not, but I’m glad you told me. And I’m glad you’re going to kill that man. You’re right. He deserves to die. Just please be careful. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
I smile against the crown of her head. It feels good to know she cares enough to worry about me.
Then she pops up. “Wait. How did you know he was released today?”
“I’ve got a guard on the take who’s been passing me information, keeping me up to date. Today he earned a bonus.”
“What’d he tell you?”
“Donnie Ray Sidler’s been in prisonfor almost five years. Upon his release this morning, his brother, Carl, picked him up.”
