From the corner of my eye, I noticed Keely looking at us, her eyes wide with disbelief, but I kept my focus on Barn.
He brought his nose close to mine. “You know that you’re my girl, right? You’ve been my girl since the very beginning. I just wanted to protect you... to protect us.”
I nodded.
“Come with me.”
“Where?” I asked. I looked around the room and again noticed Keely’s disapproving gaze.
“I have a surprise for you. Come on.” He grabbed my hand and tugged at me. “Please. You won’t be disappointed.” He looked at me, his beautiful eyes pleading with me.
I hesitated for just a split second then gleefully followed him. My eyes were on him as we headed out to the garden. I simply couldn’t believe that he wasn’t the jerk who’d deliberately left me stranded in London. He was simply a man who adored me and would do anything to maintain our relationship.

As thrilled as I was to be out in the garden alone with him, I knew that my place was inside with the cast and crew. I wanted to enjoy the wrap party with them all. But I was intrigued by Barn’s invitation to come outside with him.
“You don’t know how long I’ve thought of this moment,” he said, his tone low and romantic. “I’ve longed to be alone with you... finally.”
“Barnaby,” I said looking into his eyes. “I have to admit that I was really confused. I thought....”
He kissed the tip of my nose. “Forget about all that. That’s all in the past. We can come out and be who we are - a couple with a serious and sincere relationship.”
My knees struggled to stay locked to keep me upright.
“As a matter of fact...” He reached into his pocket. “I really want to make it clear to the world...”
My breath caught in my throat. Was he really going to say what I thought he was going to say? Were we really going to take that step?
Was I ready?
Yes. Yes, I was ready.
“I want to officially make you mine,” Barn said. He leaned in to kiss me but...
“Oh,” a male voice muttered. “Sorry.”
