He groaned, but I didn’t care as he rang me up. The moment my fingers wrapped around the phone, I hightailed it out of there. I didn’t pay attention to the water bottle in my pants or the other items I’d stolen.
I headed across the street toward a coffee shop that was still open. I just needed their wifi. I leaned against the wall and sighed in relief when the phone picked up the signal. Thank goodness a lot of people were in there. It was probably closing soon.
My fingers trembled as I set everything up. I couldn’t believe I was doing this, and I knew for sure Calvin would be pissed. Still, when I thought about who would come for us, Elio was the only one who came to mind. How he’d looked when we left his place was still fresh in my memory.
It was irrational. One night in the man’s bed meant nothing, but I’d felt something back there. He’d stared at us like he wanted to keep us. Maybe it was my wishful thinking, but fuck, I had to hold out hope.
One of the guys working for Elio had given me a phone number. I took my shoe off and slipped the paper out of my sock. Dialing it was the easy part. My thumb hovered over the call button.
What if he hung up or shot me down?
Before I knew it, my thumb came down and hit the button. The ringing came over the speaker, and I brought it to my ear, holding my breath. Another ring. My eyes closed as I waited for the inevitable, the call to be forwarded.
“Hello?”
Elio’s deep voice came over the line, and my heart fluttered as my throat went dry. He’d answered. Still, now that I had him on the phone, I was at a loss.
“Sayge?”
I pushed off the wall.
“How did you know it was me?” I scanned the area around me, but I didn’t see anyone.
“Where are you three?” Elio asked, ignoring my question.
“What?”
A growl came over the phone, and I melted on the spot.
“Where are you?” Elio asked again.
I named the street we were at, knowing there was no point in hiding it when I wanted him to come to get us.
“Stay there.”
“Elio.” My heart was beating so fast that I placed my hand over my chest. “Why?”
The line went quiet for a second. I held my breath, pressing the phone firmly against my ear so I didn’t miss a single word.
“I’m coming to get what’s mine.”
His?It scared me how right it sounded. We’d only just met, yet he claimed all three of us had me sagging against the wall.
“Any further questions, angel?”
I coughed out a laugh as I covered my eyes. I didn’t cry. It never solved anything. Still, the tears fell anyway.
I was far from an angel.
“How far are you?”
I wiped my eyes and headed back toward the alley where the guys were at. We had someone. It might not be who we’d expect, but there was someone who gave a damn about us. Or, at the very least, wanted to own us. I was fine with that. Being in Elio’s hands again was all I’d been thinking about since we’d left.
I would make Elio our daddy even if I had to tie myself to him.It wouldn’t be one night, not if I could help it.
