I didn’t know if he saw it in my eyes, but the old man sat straighter in his bed, his thick unruly brows furrowed.
“Elio, you—”
“Where are they?” My calmness broke, and the rage peeked through. The only reason he wasn’t dead was because he could give me what I needed to find my boys.
The door burst open. I pulled another gun out and shot a guard twice before he could utter a word. The body dropped to the ground.
“Elio!”
“Does your word mean nothing?” I asked.
The old man’s wrinkly face twisted as he became angry. “What do you mean?”
“For me becoming your pet, you promised I’d be free to do as I pleased as long as it never impacted the family. I don’t give a fuck about the sins my father made in the past.”
The old man’s fist balled, and he released his gun. “My brother was just as bull-headed as you. Are you willing to pay the price he did?”
“I already paid. You have the boy.”
The old man looked unimpressed. Ken cleared his throat, and I met his gaze across the room. He slightly shook his head, and I knew he was telling me not to kill him.
“Any other price can be told to me later.” I took a deep breath and cracked my neck. “I’m tired of asking.” No matter the price, I’d pay it.Even if it was my life.As long as they were safe. “Where are they?”
“You’ve made a mess of my estate,” the old man said.
Killing him was becoming more appealing by the second. He slipped out of bed and walked past me with the confident steps he’d had since I was a child.
“I had my idiotic son followed. He’s made a bigger mess of things than I expected.” He took a seat in his chair and lit a cigarette.
I stayed still as I watched him pull out his phone. “I sent you his coordinates. And remember, Elio. You owe me.”
He’d ensure I stayed indebted to him for the rest of my life. “If you ever touch them, know that nothing will stop me from killing you.”
The old man smirked. “You’re showing your hand, boy.”
“And you have shown yours plenty of times. You trained me. You know just how good I am.”
He put his cigarette out. “I’ll be sending you the bill for the clean-up.”
I nodded, and Ken walked out ahead of me. I waited till it was just us. “Rocco?”
The old man rubbed his chin. “Call me when you have him.”
It wasn’t a yes, but I knew I wouldn’t let him live regardless. I’d just have to owe the old man double. I turned away and jogged down the steps meeting Feleti and Ken.
“Let’s go get what’s mine.”
ChapterTwenty-One
SAYGE
It was dark, stank, and cramped as hell. My wrist throbbed as if someone was stabbing me repeatedly. I tried to move, but there wasn’t enough room. Warm bodies pressed against me, and my heart stuttered as I squinted, trying to make out who it was in the small space with me.
What sounded like a car engine started up, and I rolled, crashing into the trunk wall. Two more bodies hit me, and the air whooshed out of me.
“Fuck,” Dar groaned out.
“Dar! Cal!”
