Andino shook his head. “I ain’t forgot, but they sound like they’re important to him.”

Rocco laughed. “You know him as much as I do. He has no emotions.” Rocco moved toward me with a menacing glare in his eyes. “And if he does care for them, good. He needs to be reminded of his place.” Rocco moved around in a rapid circle. “Fucking Elio. Four trucks packed with our drugs. And what did he do with it? Handed it over to the fucking cops.”

Andino didn’t look convinced. He was still nervously glancing around.“Yeah, I know, but, Rocco, you know he’s crazy.”

“And I can be fucking crazier. I’m the one with the power,” Rocco shouted.

“There will be nowhere you can hide,” I said.

Rocco stopped and grinned down at me as he snapped his fingers. One of his men pulled me up by my hair. The pain covered my scalp, but I swallowed down any cry of pain. I wouldn’t give them anything.

My body was in pure agony, and I was pretty sure my left wrist was broken. The white, hot pain was a constant throb that had spots dancing in my vision.

“Huh, this one. I can see why a man would want to fuck you,” Rocco said as he looked over my face and body. His gaze felt like it was being drenched in slime that had the texture of cottage cheese. Bile burned the back of my throat.

“I bet you spread your legs for anyone with a credit card. I’ve seen your type.”

His dig hurt more than it should have, but I fought not to let it show.

“Leave him alone,” Calvin said. He rolled over, sitting up with his arms and legs tied. We were nothing more than caught prey.

“You kidnapped us because you’re too much of a pussy to face Elio.”

Rocco stormed away from me, and I wiggled, trying to break free of the hold. My wrist and side screamed in pain.

Muffled shouts came from my right. I glanced over at Dar. He was glaring at Rocco’s back as he headed toward Calvin. He pulled out a knife, and the moonlight bounced off the blade. My heart sank into my stomach as ice-cold fear stabbed through me.

“You want to die so bad you can be the first one,” Rocco said.

“No! Get awa—” My mouth was covered by one of the men’s hands. I shook my head, trying to pull Rocco’s attention back to me.

If Calvin died— No, I refused to let the thought have any purchase.Elio, where the fuck were you?

He’d promised always to come for us, to kill anyone who’d harm us. A gunshot rang out, and I was dropped.

I fell to my knees, uncaring as I met Calvin’s gaze.

“Fuck, he’s going to kill us,” Andino whimpered. He looked around nervously.

“What the hell are you waiting for? Find him and kill him,” Rocco shouted.

Elio was there, and I almost started laughing. They’d fucked up. We didn’t belong to just some man but a beast who’d set the world ablaze for us.

ChapterTwenty-Two

ELIO

Blood rained downas we killed every single person there. It wasn’t nearly enough to sate the beast that raged inside of me. The moment my eyes landed on my boys, something in me cracked, and I ran toward them. I didn’t even care that Rocco was trying to escape. I’d kill him anytime. Yet, right now, I needed to go to them.

Calvin’s eyes widened as I stepped toward him. I moved to the left at the last second as a knife came at me from behind. I twisted around and rammed my gun’s butt into a henchman’s temple.

As he went down, I fired off two more shots. His blood added to the mess of crimson I was already sporting.

My ears rang as I stood there, breathing heavily. The gunshots ceased. I didn’t relax for a second as I glanced around.

“I will kill all of you,” Rocco shouted.

Feleti walked back into the abandoned building, carrying the heir of the Laureati family. Ken wasn’t too far behind him, dragging a passed-out Andino. So he had been far more involved. I told him his stupidity would get him killed.
