The dare sent adrenaline pumping through my veins. For a split second, I looked past him to the outside world.
"Felix." The low and dangerous sound of his voice only added to my excitement."You know I will catch you, right?"
I shrugged, finally meeting my daddy's eyes. "What if I want you to?"
He groaned and ushered me outside the cabin. Crisp cool air washed over me. The first thing I noticed was that we were surrounded by woods. Not a single person was in sight. There was a long dirt road that I could just make out in front of us and a single car there.
Even if I had escaped at the beginning, there was nowhere for me to go.
"Realising how trapped you are?"
I wrapped my body around Ezra's arm and peered up at him through my lashes. "Do I have to ride in the trunk again?"
Ezra shook his head at me. "There is something really wrong with you. Who makes jokes about being kidnapped?"
"Someone who's getting fucked by their kidnapper, duh."
My daddy stopped short as his hand crashed against my ass. The thud grounded me more than he could ever know. A warmth built under my ass and slowly covered my entire body.
"Watch your tone, boy."
"Sorry, Daddy. I'll be good."
Chapter Seventeen
Ezra
Ithought about asking myself why I was doing this, but the truth was that I was an idiot. What should have been an easy task had turned into a complete and utter fuck-up. Despite everything I'd planned for months—no, years—none of it had gone right. Now I was stuck with a crazy guy that wanted to go out on some kind of date. I sneered as my hands tightened around the wheel.
What the hell was I doing?
I knew I should turn back, flee. But I couldn't help myself. He'd looked so stupidly vulnerable, like he would break down and start sobbing if I didn't take him out. As much as that irritated me, it had tugged on a different part of me as well. The one that, for some reason, wanted to give Felix what he wanted. He was turning me into someone I recognized before prison. The man I was when I was with Jasper. When I tried so hard to cling to something good even while I knew I would never actually be good. The hope that died in me when I went to prison? It sparked back to life with Felix. And I didn't know how to stop it.
"We have to go somewhere safe," I said. "And you had to dress up like we're on a fucking parade during pride month," I growled. "What were you thinking?"
Flix gazed down. "I was thinking that I wanted to look nice for you," he muttered. He glanced down at his outfit. "You don't like it? I did offer to change and you said no."
I slammed my hand against the wheel. "That's not the point!" I sucked in a breath when he jumped. Shit, I hadn't meant to do that. "You look good," I muttered. "But you keep forgetting that I kidnapped you, Felix. I took you. That means people are looking. And if they see you? They'll want to take you away from me."
Felix's eyes widened as he stared at me. "I don't want to go."
"I know," I said. "I know." I grabbed his thigh and gave it a tight squeeze. "I don't want that either, so we have to be careful."
When we finally stopped, I tugged the hoodie over Felix's head from the bed of my car. He let me tug down the hoodie until I could pull the hood up over his head. I made sure he was snug and bundled before I grabbed his hand. I pushed glasses on his face and my hand curled around his more tightly.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"Just… shut up."
I dragged him down the road. Before long, we walked through a doorway and into the cool chaotic world of an arcade. Video games blasted, people chatted and laughed, machines buzzed and rang. The entire atmosphere made my skin crawl, but I'd learned from being his "friend" Tony, that he loved video games. When I glanced over at him, he was smiling. I knew I had made the right decision.
"Really? An arcade?" Felix lit up. "I love games!"
"I know," I muttered. I stopped at the counter and purchased him a bunch of tokens to play with. When I gave them over, he took them and ran off. "Stay where I can see you!" I growled.
"Okay, okay!" he called back and slowed down.
Sighing, I stalked after him. I rubbed the back of my neck, unsure, and feeling insane as he ran through the arcade as if he owned the place. Felix darted from one machine to the other. He raced, he played pinball, and even won a stuffed giraffe.
