I tried to look anywhere but at him. His mouth opened as he stared down at me, too intently for my liking. No one had ever given me so much attention.

"Interesting," he said.

The silence that descended upon us didn't nearly feel as suffocating as it should have. My stomach was empty but so was my head. Thoughts did berate me every five seconds. I knew no matter what I said he either wouldn't answer me or he’d do whatever he wanted. There was little choice but to wait.

"You're going to help me tonight. It's been a while for me, and normally, I like working alone but thinking about the screams and faces you're going to make is too good to pass up."

I should say no. It would be the smart thing to say. "Can I go get my stuff first?"

His smile was one the devil would be afraid of. "No, you do what I want first and be a good boy. And we'll talk about you getting whatever you think you need."

I licked my lips. I could do this, right? Whatever he had planned, it wouldn't be anything too crazy. Right? It wouldn't be anything like robbing someone or kidnapping. As long as it wasn't a crime, I was certain I could do it.

Chapter Five

Ezra

Istared at him as he looked up at me with those honey eyes that looked entirely too fucking innocent. He looked as if he was already about to do whatever I asked just so I could go and retrieve whatever bullshit he needed from his room.

Pathetic. But useful.

I licked my lips. God, he was such a soft little creature. How the hell had he even survived without someone holding his hand every step of the way? He looked like he would kill himself just by chewing gum and walking at the same time.

“Fine,” I said finally, and he sighed like he had been holding his breath the entire time. “You help me? Maybe I’ll help you.” I stepped forward, closing the space between us in a few short strides. “But if you even think about complaining? I’ll take my offer right back.”

“I-I won’t, sir!”

I looked him over and a slow smile tugged at the corners of my lips. He had no idea what he was agreeing to, did he? That was okay. He’d already tried to escape once. He needed to see what happened if he ever tried something that stupid again.

Straightening up more, I nodded. “Stay,” I directed. “I’ll be back quickly. You move? You pull another stunt?” I leaned forward. “You won’t have to worry about that shackle anymore because I’ll take one of your legs.”

I watched as he blanched and his lips parted in horror. Smiling, I straightened up once more and nodded at him. He would behave. And if he didn’t? Well, I had precautions. Cameras, extra locks. And those were just the safeguards inside of the cabin. Outside there were even more layers of protection. I had turned this place into my own little fortress. He would only step foot outside of it again if I Iet him.

Leaving him behind, I shut the door after me and locked him into the bedroom. Once I pocketed the key, I stalked toward the counter to gather my things. There was someone I had in mind for this. A particular face that I had been stalking for months. It looked like it was time for him to have some use.

When I returnedto the cabin, I moved swiftly through the space. I dropped off my load in the living room and cracked my neck. My back was stiff, my knuckles bruised, but I had retrieved what needed to be retrieved and that was all that mattered.

I opened Felix’s door and he shot to his feet immediately. Raising a brow, I grinned at him and a low rumble of laughter slipped out.

“That eager, pequeño?littleWaiting around for your master like an eager little dog?”

He swallowed thickly. “Um, yes, sir.”

Felix shifted his eyes away from me as quickly as he had looked at me. I could see the conflicted emotions written on hisface. He would say anything to be on my good side. Desperate, but entertaining.

“Come with me,” I said. “I have something for you.”

He perked up. “”You stopped by my dorm?” he asked hopefully.

“Fuck no,” I grumbled. “What did I say? You do something for me, maybe I’ll do something for you. Remember?”

Felix shuffled beside me. “Yeah. I forgot,” he muttered. “Sorry.”

The heavy sound of his feet, the shackle, and the chain attached to it filled the silence as I exited the bedroom with him by my side. He kept his head down, his shoulders slumped, and I couldn’t help but to shake my head at how vulnerable he was. Seriously, were he and Jasper even related? Jasper had been a viper most days. Felix? He was a kitty cat.

When we reached the edge of the living room, Felix finally glanced up. At first, his eyes darted around, taking in the sights he’d only gotten to see moments of before. Finally, his eyes landed on the bound and gagged man on the floor.

“Shit,” he breathed.
