“I’ve never had a night like this,” she whispered, her voice soft and sleepy.
His ears pricked up. Pride filling his body at the compliment. “Yeah?”
“Hmmmm. It wassoooogood, Dominic.”
“Good?”Which part, when?He needed specifics, so that he could file them away, and know that he’d achieved something with her. That maybe he’d given her something she could remember him by, something that would stand out and not be erased from her memory. A fragment of him she could hold on to, the way she held on to the memories of her boyfriend.
She yawned. “You were right … when you ... when you did that thing ... I liked it. I liked it very much.”
He knew she would.
He was ready to make love to her again, but this time he wanted to go slow and be more tender. The thought of sinking into her stirred his loins. He cupped the side of her face. “Are you ready for another round?” She didn’t answer. “Eleni?”
Her heavy breathing told him she was asleep. Brushing her damp hair away from her face, he let his fingers trace gently over the contours of her face. He wanted to remember every little detail about her so that he could cherish the memories of their time together.
He pushed the thought away.
The weekend wasn’t over yet.
There was still tomorrow, and maybe more than that.
* * *
It seemed instantaneous. He’d barely closed his eyes when he woke up abruptly to find Eleni closing a suitcase.
The sight smashed into him like a twenty ton juggernaut.
“When did you wake up?” Disbelief mixed with anger at the sight of her all calm and getting ready to leave.
Her brown eyes met his. “An hour ago. I didn’t want to wake you.”
“You should have. I thought …” The words died on his lips.I thought we had more time.
“You were fast asleep, Dominic. You were snoring.” She laughed, and her eyes lit up. She stared at him for the longest time, almost as if … as if this was goodbye. Wearing a pale yellow summer dress, she was like a splash of sunshine first thing in the morning, only there was nothing sunny or warm about this.
“You should have woken me up.” Disappointment weighed heavy, but now he was filled with regret. They had run out of time.
Even worse, Eleni hadn’t considered the alternative, the one he’d fallen asleep thinking about; not just staying in bed for most of today and having more sexy times, but he was going to suggest she change her flight to a later time, or even move it by another day or two. Whatever she felt comfortable with. He was here for a few days more, and what could be better than having her here with him?
He didn’t care what people in the office thought, or if the truth came out. He stomped out of bed, noticed her gaze trail south and settle on him for a few seconds.
Every fiber in his body commanded him to go and claim her, hold her in his arms and take her again. Do dirty, unspeakable things with her, and to her. His cock twitched at the thought.
But she’d already made up her mind.
“You didn’t have to go,” he said, not bothering to cover his nakedness.
Her eyes danced south, and he could feel himself getting hard again. He looked around in vain for his swim shorts.
“My flight leaves in an hour. I have to go.”
That’s all she had to say? Nothing about last night?
“I’m still here for a few more days. You could stay a while.” His voice sounded coarse, like rough sandpaper. He was in danger of begging her to stay. He looked around for his T-shirt, remembered that it was still out by the pool.
“I couldn’t, Dominic. What would people think?” Her gaze ran rampant over his chest, then his face, then his chest again. His hopes lifted, maybe she was having second thoughts.
“I don’t give a shit about that.”
