“I’m not so sure. They’re so comfortable around each other.” Miranda shrugged. “I could be wrong.”
Now she’d gone and planted seeds of mistrust and jealousy inside Eleni’s head. If anyone would have an antenna for watching interactions between Dominic and other women it would be Miranda.
Eleni shifted uneasily in her seat.
“You haven’t touched that,” Miranda stared longingly at the chicken souvlaki on Eleni’s plate.
“I’m not hungry. You have it.” She’d picked at the fried potatoes but couldn’t bring herself to eat anymore. She pushed the plate towards her friend. Miranda chewed her lip. “I shouldn’t. I’m supposed to be on a diet.” She skewered a cucumber with her fork and held it up, staring at it.
“I shouldn’t be putting temptation in your way,” answered Eleni. Miranda was voluptuous, more than anything. “You’re gorgeous, Miranda. You have a beautiful figure.”
“Like a Greek goddess?”
“Like that.”
“You are too nice.” Miranda set her fork down and contemplated the food on Eleni’s plate.
“Go on, I don’t want it.”
She’d lost her appetite even more now that she wasn’t sure what role Helen played in Dominic’s life. She wished she hadn’t gone barreling into his office, worried about his foul mood and attempting to see if she could calm him down.
Calm him down?
Who was she to calm him down?
She was a nobody.
It would have been better for her sanity to not have seen him in the flesh. His waist tapering to a V at the hips was none of her business. Neither was the way his abs dipped and rose.
Absolutely none of her business.
It wasn’t that she ran out of the room because he scared her, it was that she was starting to wonder what it might be like running her fingers across that wall of chest. And feeling his lips on her mouth.
He was older, and there was a good chance he wasn’t single.
Wait, what?
No, no, no. His status was of no concern to her.
At least, it shouldn’t have been. After all, she was lonely and prone to fantasizing. She hadn’t had sex in over a year and a half.
That’swhat was going on.
Sitting back, she focused her attention on Miranda enjoying every morsel of her food.
