He looked around, made sure Alexander was still working away on his laptop, and replied:

Dominic: He’s under observation in my office.

A dart of exhilaration shot through him when she texted back a few moments later:

Eleni: Poor man. Is he getting the Dominic death stare?

Dominic: Is that a thing?

Eleni: It’s a thing

“Let’s go get some drinks,” Alexander announced.

Dominic looked up. “It’s early for that.”

“It’s never too early for drinks. Linus is coming.” Alexander closed his laptop and stood up. “Helen said she might join us later.”

Dominic frowned. His older brother had a tendency to create a social event out of nothing, and he’d invite anyone and everyone. It was a wonder he hadn’t asked Miranda.

“Come on. I’m going home tomorrow. That should be reason enough for you to celebrate.”

He wasn’t wrong. Dominic’s mood lifted. “That is a reason to celebrate.” He stared at his phone, conscious of the fact that he hadn’t replied to Eleni. He felt a pull in his chest, an urge to reply to her. “Give me a few minutes.”

Dominic: My brother leaves tomorrow. I’m going for drinks with him and Helen and others. How’s your ankle?

He waited a few moments, and then some more, and when Alexander hollered for him to hurry up, he turned off his computer, slipped his phone into his jacket pocket, and left.
