“Neither do most things.” He puts his credit card in the folio and sets it at the edge of the table for the server. Then grabs it back and switches it out for another one. I look at him curiously.
“Someone stuck me with a five-hundred-dollar tab at a restaurant, maxed that card out.” He smiles, but it’s small.
“Ohmigod, I forgot I did that. Oh, Ethan, I’m so sorry. I just . . . I don’t know what I was thinking. Please let me pay you back. Or pay for dinner. Or both.”
He shakes his head. “No, it’s okay. Most of my cards have small limits on them, just in case someone steals them. I have one with a big limit, but I leave it at home and don’t use it much, except for travel. I prefer to pay cash for things.”
“That’s so grown-up of you,” I say. He smiles back. A real smile this time.
“Make no mistake, Miss Mason.” His voice is deep and sexy. “I will get you back for that night.”
I squirm in my seat slightly. The way he says it makes me think I will enjoy what he has planned for payback. “I look forward to it.”

The comfortable shoes request makes sense when we get to our next destination.
“Ohmigod, a Ferris wheel! I love Ferris wheels!!” I’m squealing, but I can’t help it. Ethan brought me to a carnival, or maybe an amusement park. It’s small, but it doesn’t look very vagabond. I leave my hat in the truck so I don’t lose it on a ride and do my best to fluff my hair before he opens the passenger door and helps me out.
“Is this here all the time?” I ask, grabbing his arm.
“It is,” he says. I turn and hug him as we walk toward the entrance. He stops walking and hugs me back. “Thank you,” I say looking up in his eyes. He reaches up and tucks my hair behind my ear, leans in, and kisses me softly.
“I couldn’t help it,” he says as he straightens. “I had to kiss you.”
“I . . . uh, yeah. Thank you,” I stammer. The kiss shook me. In a good way. A really good way.
“Well, you’re welcome,” he chuckles, taking my hand and leading me toward the ticket booth. He buys the largest book of tickets they offer, then hands them to me. “Ready?”
I nod, excited, and we head in.
I don’t know what I want to do first. It’s almost overwhelming, the lights, the people, the noises of laughter and squeals, music, games, carnies hawking wares. It’s designed like a long city street with games, rides, and food vendors scattered about on either side.
“What would you like to do first?” he asks. I look up at him, smiling down at me, and my heart beats faster. I have to be honest, it’s not just the carnival that’s too much, it’s him as well. He makes me feel more aware of the sights and sounds around me, everything looks better, even smells better when I’m with him. I want to stop time and stay in this feeling forever.
“Everything,” I say. “I want to do everything first.”
“As you wish.”
To say the night is beyond perfection is an understatement. We hold hands, kiss, flirt, tease, eat cotton candy and popcorn. We play all the games and Ethan wins me countless prizes. Which we give to little kids walking around with none. Except one. It’s a stuffed toy shaped like a heart, but with arms, legs, and a face.
“I’m keeping this one,” I tell him after he dings the bell by swinging the hammer on theStrong Mangame and wins.
“Why?”
“I like it.” I cuddle the toy to my chest. He pulls me toward him and kisses the top of my head, then grabs my hand and we head for the Ferris wheel. It’s the only thing left we haven’t done. We’ve saved the best for last. He stands behind me in line, with his arms around my waist, nuzzling my neck. My head leans back against his shoulder giving him better access, I feel up his biceps with my free hand. I like the way his muscles twitch under my touch. His body is hard and strong.
I move my ass against him, his cock hardens. “Mmmm.” He feels good.
“Keep that up and you’ll miss your favorite ride,” he whispers in my ear.
I angle my head toward him. “Why, what are you going to do?”
“Did I ever tell you that the seats recline in my truck?”
“Did I ever tell you I’m bendy? I can do incredible things in small spaces.”
He groans.
