Brie moves onto her hands and knees. I lean back so I can stare at her ass.

The instructor walks by and flicks me on the head. “Cat and cow poses,” he repeats.

The flick hurt. Still, totally worth it.

I crawl back to the center of my mat and attempt to replicate the pose.

“I’ve dreamt about having you on all fours with me,” I tell her.

“Ohmigod, seriously?” She glares.

“Shh!”

I grin at Bristol. She rolls her eyes.

“Okay, let’s begin our practice with Surya Namaskar. A sun salutation,” the instructor says.

“What does he mean, begin?” I ask Bristol.

“That was the warmup. We’re starting the class now.”

“Pretty sure I’m done,” I say.

“Bread is done,” Bristol says. “What you are is finished. Wimping out and finished.”

“I’m not wimping out,” I argue.

“Uh-huh.”

I lie back on my mat and turn to watch her.

“I had no idea you were so bendy,” I tell her.

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me,” she says.

“So, tell me.”

“No.” She moves into something called a warrior pose and looks strong as fuck doing it. So, I tell her so.

“Can’t you just shut up?”

“Hey,” I say. “That was a compliment.”

“You’re supposed to practice silence during Yoga,” she says with a small grunt as she arches her back and pushes herself up on her arms.

“Why is that?”

She moves again, this time into a position that looks like the letter V, only upside down. “So you can focus on your breath and balance your chi.”

I nod like I understand, even though I don’t.

But I do remain quiet for the rest of the class. Watching her body move fluidly from one pose to another. She’s glowing when it’s over as if her entire body is energized and vibrant.

“Can you believe people were talking the entire time?” Amy walks by with another bridesmaid and gives us the side eye. “It’s just so rude. And poor practice.”

Brie visibly tenses and then shakes it off. I want to say something encouraging, I just don’t know what. Blake finds me before I have a chance to, and Brie slips away.

“Dude, what’d you think?” He looks about as invigorated as I do.
