“Stars but not in the hot tub,” I clarified.

“I’ll be right back,” he said and disappeared back into the house before I could ask what he was planning on doing. I sank onto my knees, submerging more of my skin under the warm water. I held my breath and listened to the wild night. An owl hooted nearby and little creatures that might’ve made a tasty snack under different circumstances scurried around in thewoods. Somewhere out there were Odie and Cobalt. I hoped they were having a good time too. Odie already seemed more relaxed out here than he did back in London. Maybe he really did just need a change of scenery.

A second later, Indigo sprinted back onto the deck and spread out several thick blankets and a stack of pillows. He helped me out of the hot tub and dried me off with a big fluffy towel that he hung over a rack built into the deck for just that purpose. He pulled me close, and I melted a bit surrounded by his arms, scent, and heartbeat. Mine followed his, slowing down to match its steady draconic pace. Our lips met for a long, slow kiss and his warm, nimble tongue snaked into my mouth. I sighed against him, happy and snug as I was hard and slick. When the kiss broke, Indigo led me to the blankets and we dropped down on our knees, lips coming together for another kiss. His tongue swirled around mine again and again until we were both on our sides with our arms and legs all wrapped around each other and only a vague memory of moving to entangle ourselves. It was so easy to slip out of my mind with Indigo. The walls I kept up around everyone except Odie could slide down and I pulled him inside with me. I wanted him there too – all safe and sound – a tender, if solid wall of muscle that I kissed and snuggled until the rest of the world didn’t exist anymore.

“Condom or not?” he asked, double checking what we discussed earlier. “I brought them out just in case. They’re tucked inside one of the pillows.”

“Not,” I shook my head and kissed him again. I ran my hand down the length of his body until the head of his cock brushed against the back of my hand. He was already dripping with pre-cum, hard as stone with a pulse. I lifted my leg over his hip and wiggled around as I wrapped my fingers around his girth. His breath hitched as I led him home between my cheeks. I wasslick, gushing now even. Thick arousal pooled just outside of my omegahole as I rubbed the mushroom-shaped head of his cock over my needy hole, lubricating him as I teased both of us.

Indigo sucked my bottom lip into his mouth and flicked his tongue over it. I swallowed down a wolfy whimper that demanded to be let out. Ever since Cobalt chomped on Odie in the truck my wolf’s patience had worn thin. After all, why should they get their claiming vows and not us? Timing was everything but the magic pushed us hard and shoved at my wolf even harder. His time had come. He was ready to be nose-to-nose with the dragon who lived inside Indigo.

My mate held me tight as I slipped down onto his dick bit by bit. The slippery sliding sensation rolled through my mind, waking up every nerve ending that lived within me and I gave in to the feel of his girth, stretching me to make room for itself. When I was sure he wasn’t going to slip out again, I held onto him, my fingers digging into his back and shoulders as our bodies worked together to find our rhythm.

“So warm inside,” Indigo whispered, and I blushed despite him stating the obvious.

I kissed him again because I wasn’t sure I could string a sentence together with him buried deep and snug inside me. I might’ve kissed him forever if my wolf didn’t gently headbutt my ribs, reminding me this wasn’t just about pleasure. This was about forever. I pulled back and Indigo followed my mouth for one more kiss. Then he turned his attention to my shoulder. I caught a glimpse of his eyes shifting to the deeper colored slit eyes of his dragon just before his tongue snaked along the edges of my claiming gland. I let out a long, slow breath and reveled in the tip of his tongue drawing wet lines over the taut skin covering the gland. Inside was everything the magic thought was important for him to know. What secrets of my own had I forgotten? We’d find out soon.

My wolf whimpered inside his inner sanctum as Indigo borrowed his dragon’s eye tooth and sank the tip of it into my skin, puncturing the gland just enough to spill out its magical contents. I snapped my teeth, but the sting disappeared as quickly as it showed up. Indigo’s warm tongue lapped up the fluid and drank down my memories. I rocked my hips, moving over his dick as he absorbed part of me into his soul. Could he hear my thoughts now? Could he feel the pleasure pulsating inside my body with every slip and slide we made?

I didn’t have to wonder long. He kissed me hard and whispered about how good I tasted. My memories tasted like coconut bonbons apparently. I laughed despite his serious expression and told him I hoped he liked them.

“My favorite,” he whispered and kissed me again.

I ran my fingers over his shoulder as our tongues whipped from my mouth to his and back again. His gland was squishy under my fingers. He murmured something I couldn’t make out under his breath as I played with it. Something inside me ached when I stopped kissing him but the wolf inside me was desperate to claim Indigo. His fur rubbed all over my insides, driving me forward and silently begging me to finish the magic ritual.

“Are you ready?” I whispered.

“Have been since the moment I smelled you at the grocery store,” Indigo whispered back to me.

I swallowed hard as my wolf lent both of his canine teeth just in case one wasn’t enough to get the job done. His tail wagged and I feared the momentum might knock me over even though I was already laying down. I bit down on the gland and warm, magical fluid flooded my mouth tasting something like gingerbread cookies. I moaned against his shoulder as the taste coated my tongue, and his thick cock buried itself deeper inside me on a long thrust.

His memories flooded over me. So many dragons, wolves, and other faces danced in and out of my thoughts. College and high school blurred together as if it was all one big education party. The farm was there too. Every memory was filled with the aromatic scents of food – growing, cooking, or being devoured in a feast. My mouth watered as I drank the memories down. Flying. He freaking flew everywhere it seemed. Why did they have so many cars and trucks when they just flew around London or Heartville or anywhere they went? Phantom wings played at my back as if I might grow them too just from the ghostly sensation of flying that my mate’s memories offered. I drank down the cookie flavored magic until every last drop was gone.

Then it was just Indigo and me in our own little world. His thoughts were vibrant and full-colored. He saw in the dark even more clearly than my wolf with his paper-thin pupils. Indigo’s pleasure rained down over me and mine over him. We lost ourselves to our link and to the ecstasy evoked from our coming together. Our bodies moved together, faster, harder, until the draconic fire inside of Indigo threatened to consume us both. Everything inside me drew up tight before finally exploding. I screamed his name because it was the only word that came to mind. The word echoed around my skull as Indigo drove himself deeper into me again and again, his breath coming out in heavy pants as I writhed in orgasm under him. His pleasure rocked me, shaking me to my core, as he came in warm, sticky streams deep inside me.

“Yes, yes, yes,” he murmured over and over again until I claimed his mouth in a long and hard, if breathless, kiss.

I clung to him even after we were both spent and soft. Something had come full circle, and it was us. Most people didn’t remember their previous lives or even choosing their true-mates in the Other World but I didn’t need to. We were back together. The magic was reawoken between us and I’d do whatever it took to ensure that we spent the rest of our days together.

“Do you think we made puppies?”my wolf asked, and I almost answered him, but as sleep pulled me under, I realized that he was asking the question of Indigo’s dragon.

Chapter Fourteen

Indigo

We fell asleep on the deck that night and I dreamt that I was flying above London while it burnt to a crisp. I woke up gasping for air next to a still conked out Ambry. My heart pounded against my ribs and the ashy smells from my dream clung to my nose. I sniffed, taking in Ambry’s calm scent and the mingling aromas of nature. There was no fire. Ambry’s memories had spooked me. London had really burnt down and blew up. History was realer through his eyes. I pushed myself upright and paced the length of the deck a few times, needing to move to ground in my body again. Maybe Cobalt was onto something with the thoughts of running away to the Starscale world at the first signs of danger. Before meeting Ambry, I’d have fought tooth and nail for the flight because it was the right thing to do. Only now keeping him and our future kids safe had to be my top priority.

“Do I need to remind you that we are safe currently?”my dragon chimed into my thoughts.“You’re not above catchingnightmares and anxiety from your mate just because it didn’t happen before. Now, ground that energy before it causes him distress. We are not losing ourselves to this. The world is different than the one where Mundanes Before Magic could pull off such schemes. The magic users of the planet are much more aligned now and even those without magic don’t want to be blown up. Most living things don’t like that. Well, maybe phoenixes but they’re a strange lot. I will not stand to be locked inside of you if you insist on losing your mind. So, breathe, ground, and cut the crap.”

I reached out over our triplet link and touched on Cobalt and Teal. Cobalt was out in the woods enjoying time alone with his mate and Teal was asleep somewhere back in London. He must’ve been on a farm because the scent of horses and sheep surrounded him.

After locating my phone, I checked my texts and sent a photo of my bitten shoulder to my sire. It was easier to show than explain. Of course, he knew we’d both claimed our mates because Ambry and Odie were now on the family link. Dad texted back that he couldn’t wait to meet them but not to change our plans for their sakes. Everyone told stories of his anxiety when we were tiny and now it all made me wonder if we were primed for it and not just picking it up from our mates.

“It’s from him. You are a dragon. You could walk into the fire and probably be okay. You’d be scale-covered and probably have to shift into me, but you’d probably be okay. I’d simply hide him inside my mouth,”my dragon said.

He froze inside his inner sanctum and shifted my eyes to his. He cocked his giant, scaley head to the side and forced mine to follow suit. I gave in to him. He had instincts I still didn’t understand but he was never wrong. He sniffed and gazed out into the dark.

“I thought something was there. You must calm down. Do not force me to uproot the trees to have a clear view all around the cabin. It would be a shame to commit such a massacre out here. Your grandcarrier wouldn’t appreciate it either. Neither would Co. From the sounds of it, he and Odie are making good use of the cover they provide.”
