For the first time, she was more pissed than scared, and in some ways, that felt really good.
“I take it that’s why we’re here right now instead of my house,” Brenda asked, smiling up at David as he slid a plate in front of her.“Thank you.”
Cassidy repeated the sentiment as David put a plate in front of her before going back to get his own.Don would have never.
“You’re welcome. And yes, that’s why you’re here.Cassidy’s shoes have never been here before, but they have been to your house. This way, Cassidy can still keep you company and take you to your usual haunts. We’re hoping Don doesn’t realize Cassidy has moved locations since her shoes haven’t and thinks that she’s under lockdown after the flower delivery.”
“So, we can still go out?”Brenda asked as David sat down beside her, sounding both relieved and a little trepidatious.“We don’t have to.I want Cassidy safe more than anything else.We can just stay here and watch movies.”
“No, you should be able to go out. We’re changing what car Cassidy will be driving you around in, and she has a couple pairs of shoes that didn’t have trackers in them.Don should think that she’s still at Jensen’s, but keep your eyes peeled just in case.”
“Maybe you should use me as bait,” Cassidy suggested, then immediately shrank back in her seat as two pairs of eyes pinned her in place.“Okay, maybe not.”
“Definitely not.”Brenda gave her a look.
“No, we don’t need you, just your shoes.”David also gave her a look, the kind that said he was going to spank her later for even thinking he’d put her in danger.
Well, that might not be so bad.
If her poor clit had recovered by then.
The good news was he wasn’t going to spank her with his grandmother there.
“Good point.I don’t know why I didn’t think of that,” Cassidy said with very real relief.“I don’t actually want to be bait, I just… I just want it to be over with.”
“Of course, you do, dear,” Brenda said sympathetically, reaching over to pat Cassidy’s hand.“Don’t worry, David will take care of it.”
Rather than protesting that he might not be able to or that it was more complicated than that, David just nodded.Cassidy wished she had his self-assurance.She still wasn’t sure what Black Fox was going to be able to do unless Don did something to get himself arrested.
Unless they were going to put the shoes somewhere, rig them with explosives, then blow Don sky high when he came looking for her.Though, if he lived through it, he’d probably be angrier than ever, and he could spend the rest of his life with a vendetta, hunting them all down one by one, saving David and Cassidy for last so he could slit David’s throat in front of her.
Oh.My.God.Why is my brain like this?
Apparently, it was back to her normal level of paranoia this morning.
Then again, could it really be called paranoia when someone was actually out to get her?Mistress Julie said it was her anxiety. The important thing was to remember that it hadn’t happened, it wasn’t necessarily going to happen, and it was actually highly unlikely to happen. No matter how her nervous system reacted to the thoughts.
She wondered if David’s brain ever did this to him.
Probably not.She knew it wasn’t ‘normal.’But it was her normal.
Unfortunately.
On the other hand, she’d rather be anxious and paranoid and therefore on guard rather than assuming everything would be fine and ending up with a bad case of the dead.
“So, where are you staying now?”Brenda asked, jerking Cassidy out of her maudlin thoughts.
“Oh, um…” Cassidy looked at David.
David looked back at her.
Brenda smiled gleefully.
David
Did David feel bad about rushing out the door and leaving Cassidy to deal with his grandmother?
Maybe just a little. Not bad enough to stay, though.Especially once his grandmother started talking about his ‘butt stick’ again.Cassidy found it hilarious. So, the two of them could talk about his butt stick while he wasn’t there. And he did have the excuse that there was a lot to do at work, including figuring out what they were going to do about Don.
