“I’m telling you, the best fuck I’ve had in weeks,” he gushed, looking behind his shoulder where Gael, one of the second years, stood with a bunch of his friends.

Andro always said exactly the same thing about every guy he fooled around with.

Oh, he’s my new obsession for this season.

“Oh,” Andro said. “He’s my new obsession for this season.”

“Right,” Jolene said, laughing.

Yes, believe me when I say that I will make it my mission to have his cock in every possible way.

“Yes, believe me when I say that I’m going to make it my mission to have his cock in every single possible way. And then some that seem impossible.”

Alecto was just glad that the Ceremony was over. Only a few more hours of mingling with the faculty and the parents, and she’d be able to get into a hot bath and wash it all off.

“Mm-hmm. Those second years have a flair for surprises,” Blaze murmured, his dark eyes on Alecto.

She couldn’t read his face or his blank expression.

It made her stomach twist, the skin on the back of her neck prickling at the intensity of those black eyes.

That bastard had the audacity to kiss her on the stage. To drag her into the middle of the ritual and lay his filthy lips on her.The memory of it made her shudder, but she refused to wonder whether it was disgustorpleasure.

The rest of the Snakes didn’t think Alecto had it in her to stand up for herself. Blaze thought he could play with her like his personal doll.

No. Alecto had had enough.

Alecto had to show Blaze that she would not be messed around. Not anymore. If he wished, Blaze could kiss her, humiliate and hurt her. But Alecto would bite back.

Hard.

“There’s my sweet little girl.” Alecto’s father’s voice came from behind them. With a stiff back, she turned to greet him.

His hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a fatherly embrace that would seem so affectionate and kind to the eyes on them now.

Galliermo Leveau, Blaze’s father, was right beside him, his dark eyes boring into Alecto with anger or mistrust. She couldn’t tell.

Alecto was used to Galliermo being just as big of an asshole as his son.

Guess the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.

What still startled her to this day was how Blaze’s mom, Auburn, who was so sweet and kind, could have settled for a man like Galliermo.

But then again, how had Alecto’s mother settled for a man like her father? Alecto hoped it was magic. It would have been so much easier to know that Alatar Black put a spell on her mother, taking her as his mortal bride.

If she were here against her will, then maybe it would be easier to understand why she had chosen to take her life, leaving Alecto in the grip of this cruel man who called himself her proud father. But nothing in life was as easy as that, was it?

“The House of Snakes really put in the effort this year,” Alatar said, turning to face the rest of the group, his eyes falling on Val. “You really smoked the other Houses with your performance. I’m sure everyone agrees.”

Val offered her most pristine smile and bowed her head. “We’re here to win, Mr. Black.”

“Good to hear,” Galliermo said, his voice hard. “At least someone is taking our legacy seriously.”

Blaze didn’t even bother lifting his gaze to meet his father’s withering stare, glancing around the party with a bored expression.

Anger bubbled inside Alecto as she glared at Blaze. That bastard had the whole world at his feet, yet he didn’t seem to be even one bit grateful for any of it.

Val scooched closer to Blaze, placing her palm over his naked chest as she smiled at Galliermo. “Let me assure you, Blaze is taking his responsibilities as my Second very seriously. When we win this year’s Game, it’s going to be thanks to him.”
