His feet seemed to be moving of their own accord because soon he found himself stalking towards her, now alone as Rogue seemed to have gone off somewhere.

“That’s a rather conservative outfit for you,” he whispered over her shoulder.

Alecto only turned her head slightly to the side, so he could see the tilt of her lips. “As if that’s any of your business, Leveau.”

Blaze’s feet stalked around her, coming to stand in front of her as he glowered down at her.

“Rogue?Really? You’ve moved on from warlocks to demons now?”

“Suck it,” she snapped. “Why don’t you go off and bebusysomewhere else?”

Blaze narrowed his eyes, his knuckles going white from how hard he fisted the glass in his palm.

He had spent hours going over their encounters in his head.

Fucking hours.

What went wrong at what moment that made her suddenly so cold and distant?

Even almost getting her killed hadn’t deterred her from seeking him out.

And then, when Blazeactuallyacted decently and told her he wanted her, she whirled and denied him.

What the fu—

Ah, and then it hit Blaze. The realization.

“Tell me. What is it that bothers you about me the most?”

Blaze let his thumb brush over Alecto’s lower lip, and she immediately smacked his hand away.

But he didn’t miss the shiver, the way her body tensed at his touch. There was something in her mind stopping her from giving in.

“Is it your issue with sharing?” Blaze mused. Alecto’s jaw tightened, lips pressing into a thin line. “Is that it? You want me all for yourself, right? But because you can’t, you would rather not have me at all?”

“It’s bold of you to assume I want you at all. There is nothing you can offer me that I can’t find elsewhere. And without all the debauchery, might I add.”

Blaze chuckled, walking around her again. He leaned in to whisper in her ear, “Oh, but I do. It looks that your body only responds to me.”

Satisfaction flooded him as Alecto’s shoulders squared.

“How unfortunate, isn’t it?”

Without waiting for an answer, Blaze turned and slipped into the crowd, leaving her alone to ponder his words.

The girl who was eyeing Blaze before stood alone by the wall now. Blaze floated over, clinking his glass to hers.

“Cheers,” he said.

The girl’s cheeks flushed as she batted her eyelashes.

Young. Soft. Inexperienced, probably.

It didn’t matter.

Blaze only needed her for a little bit of play.

He placed a hand on the wall next to her head, leaning into her. She immediately responded, lifting her chin.
