His father was quick as he moved towards Blaze and threw a fist at his stomach.
“You’ll do as I say,” he growled. “If I hear that you even talk with that filth outside school, I’m going to make sure it’s the last time you see her.”
Blaze straightened his back.
“You don’t have that kind of power. She’s aBlack.”
Another punch, this one to his side, sent him to his knees.
“Yes, and what do you think her father will do when he finds out that his precious little angel has been fucking you?” His tone was mocking, and something in his words didn’t sit right. “He’s going to make sure that you never lay a finger on her again.”
Blaze glanced at his father, confused at the triumphant expression that hid something cruel and sinister behind it.
“Get yourself together,” his father spat, fastening the button of his suit jacket. “We have a party going on.”
He walked around Blaze to the door. “Don’t ever allow the Leveau name to mix with that half breed, or you won’t see the end of my wrath.”
And with that, Blaze was left alone.
He rose to his feet, catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror. It was someone else starting at him back, dark gaze and shadows settled in the hollows of cheeks that were supposed to belong to him.
He raked a hand through his hair before he went over to the bar behind the large desk, pouring himself a drink.
As the whisky hit his throat, burning all the way down to his stomach, Blaze whirled, glancing at the neat desk.
There was only one note out of place.
A paper he had recognized.
Blaze slowly lifted it, the expensive ivory paper marked with a black coiled snake in the corner.
In the middle of the note sat words written in handwriting Blaze knew well.
Your son is sleeping with Alecto Black.
Of course it was Val. Blaze should have known from the start.
He emptied the drink in one gulp, smashing the glass on the desk as he strode outside the study back into the lounge.
Val and Andro were standing right where he’d left them, and Val smiled as Blaze approached. “Hey there, handsome—”
Words died in her throat as Blaze sunk his fingers in her forearm, yanking her close to his chest. “We’re going.”
Without waiting for a response, Blaze dragged Val with him as he made his way to the elevator. Andro was right behind them.
The door opened, a faceless man greeted them, and Blaze guided Val inside. “Ground floor.”
The door closed, and they started moving down. Blaze’s rage choked him.
“Do you really have to be such a dick?” Val complained. “I was actually enjoying myself—”
“Shut the fuck up.”
Blaze didn’t look at either of his friends. His eyes focused on the elevator doors. Once they opened, he strode through the massive foyer, ignoring the receptionist, and went outside.
TheCrahenat the parking lot immediately whistled for their transportation, and a moment later, a round carriage with red and black branches flew over, stopping right in front of them as the door swung open.
Blaze shoved Val inside. Andro climbed in, closed the door, and settled on the seat in front of them.
