There was not a single ugly thing Blaze wasn’t aware of in Alecto, and that gave her comfort.

They could be together if they truly wanted to.

But no matter how much Alecto craved comfort only he could provide, the warmth of his embrace, she could never be able to trust him again.

Blaze was a volatile, ever-changing being that one moment promised you the whole world, while the next, he was the one burning it to the ground.

His hand with the sponge moved higher up her thigh, and Alecto released a soft breath, leaning her head back on the tub. There was a smirk dancing on his face as he stole a glance at her through lowered lashes.

“Yes, Black? Have anything to say?”

Alecto licked her lips, narrowing her eyes.

She had plenty of things to say. Most of them filthy and horrible, filled with longing and desire even she wasn’t fully comfortable with.

“And what if I do?” she asked, shifting her hips. This drew his attention back to her, and Alecto’s heart raced as his hand hovered very close to her core.

One touch, and she could be on fire.

There it was, written softly on his sharp face, the truth of his feelings, of how his heart truly felt for her. It only lasted a moment, and when he blinked, only thick desire was left in its wake.

But that was enough for Alecto. More than enough.

She could never truly forgive him and forget. Blaze had tried to kill her. He had tried shattering her heart and soul. A few stolen moments of pleasure and peace couldn’t fix that.

If she were honest with herself, Alecto wasn’t sure anything could. But she was determined to try to see if vengeance could bring her satisfaction.

Alecto bit her lip as she arched her back, a clear invitation for Blaze to touch her, give her those clever fingers and let them explore.

But she was done playing his games, according to his rules. It was time Blaze started playing her game, even if he didn’t know it yet.

His fingers found the throbbing spot between her thighs, and Alecto’s fingers wrapped around the edge of the tub as she welcomed the warm waves of pleasure surging through her. She could feel his dark gaze on her as she let her eyes fall shut, and it gave her enormous satisfaction.

When Alecto was done with him, Blaze would know firsthand what it felt like to be the half breed amongst the pure bloods. He’d know what it felt like to walk into the room and have every pair of eyes on you, burning with hatred so strong you could choke.

And when finally he was the one broken and damaged, then Alecto would consider forgiving and forgetting.

Jack Riverblood didn’t dare raise his eyes when Blaze and the rest of the Inner Circle entered the auditorium.

Good for him.

As they made their way up the stairs on the side of the hall to their seats, many eyes were on them. The results were not in yet for the first trimester, the Dean waiting for everyone to take their seats before announcing the end of the first round of the Game.

But the poor souls knew. At least most of them.

They weren’t expecting the Inner Circle to be there today.

As Blaze took his seat, Andro settling on one side, Val on the other, he couldn’t help but smirk to himself.

There was nothing better than proving the haters wrong.

“Where’s Rogue?” Blaze asked, leaning in closer to Val.

“Taken care of.”

Blaze trailed a finger over his jaw, his tongue poking the inside of his cheek.
