She was grateful that her hands didn’t tremble, even though her whole body was taut with tension.
Why would Blaze do that? Why would he—of all people—be so reckless as to get into a fight when he clearly didn’t like Alecto?
She cleared her throat, wiping the last smear of blood over his eyebrow.
“You didn’t have to do it,” she said.
He blinked slowly, still silent.
Alecto could have taken care of it herself. She didn’t care about getting her hands dirty. In fact, it was clear to her that she’d have to cross the line this year to show the Tigers that she was not to be messed with.
They were in the possession of the memory orb, and Alecto was going to have to get it back. Soon.
“But thank you.”
Blaze’s gaze dropped from her eyes to her lips.
Those black eyes of his were heavy-lidded, darker than she had ever seen before, and then, he leaned forwards slightly. Alecto blinked, glancing between his lips and eyes, her body still as a stone, afraid to move.
What the fuck was going on?
Was he…going to kiss her?
Just as a breath hitched in Alecto’s throat, Blaze blinked, the haziness evaporating almost as quickly as it appeared.
“You know, you should really start picking your lovers better,” Blaze announced.
“What?”
“I said you should choose your lovers better,” he repeated, rolling his eyes as his hand moved to touch his swollen jaw.He winced and dropped his arm back into his lap.
“Are you really shaming me for sleeping around?” Alecto asked, still unable to clearly understand what just happened.
Or rather, whatdidn’thappen.
“I’m not slut-shaming you for fucking around,” Blaze replied. “I’m shaming you for your poor choice in lovers.”
“Fuck you.”
“Tell me I’m wrong. Tell me that Gabe or his friend, whatever the fuck his name is, was a good fuck. Tell me that they at least managed to give you a few orgasms for all this trouble. Because you sure as Hel seemed to get back from his bedroom very quickly.”
Alecto snapped her mouth shut and threw the washcloth at Blaze. He caught it in the air before it hit his face.
“That’s none of your fucking business,” she said.
“Ah, but your reaction tells me everything I need to know. I can’t say I’m surprised that fucker didn’t make you come.”
Alecto took a step backwards, unable to stop her cheeks from heating up. This was not a conversation she’d planned on having with Blaze, or anyone else for that matter.
It was confusing and embarrassing navigating her issue with orgasming with men. She didn’t need the biggest asshole at Venefica knowing anything about it.
But her silence was a mistake.
“Why are you blushing?” he asked, voice amused.
Alecto only smirked, rolling her eyes.
He can fucking suck it.
