“Oh, we’ve seen your little performance backstage,” Val said. “In fact, we found it so good, we sealed it in a memory orb, didn’t we, Alecto?”

“Oh, yes, we did. It was quite a show. Who could blame us?” Alecto’s smile widened as Rebecca’s face lost all its color. Alecto could feel the hard swallow under her palm.

“What do you think Damon would say about his bride being not so pure if he found out?” Val asked. “I don’t think his family would be happy about that.”

“So, sweetheart, think long and hard before you once more say a word to Alecto, glance her way, or even think of her,” Val warned, her face turning serious as she pressed the knife against Becks’s cheek. “Stay in your fucking lane, or I will show Damon what his fiancée loves to do when he’s not around. Am I making myself clear?”

Rebecca swallowed once more and nodded.

Right then, Alecto let go of her throat. The moment Rebecca was free, she ran away from them as if her ass were on fire.

“Getting a bit protective?” Alecto asked, turning to Val.

Val shot her a smile.“Nobody calls my bitch a whore.” Alecto barked a laugh, falling back into step with Val on their way to the cafeteria. Val draped an arm over Alecto’s shoulder, whispering sweetly into her ear, “You have potential I didn’t see before, Black.”

It might have been the sweetest thing Val had ever said.

The next evening, Alecto and Jolene made their way to the lockers before the first rockey game of the season. Alecto’s heart raced, her chest heaving with anticipation and fear.

Jolene had helped Alecto conjure a little spell that would make Blaze’s game tonight a little bit slippery, and it didn’t take Alecto long to learn that revenge did taste better than peace.

Jolene’s fingers linked with Alecto’s as they rounded the corner. A few whistles followed them as they passed a bunch of guys from the House of Rats.

“Fucking first years,” Jolene said, throwing them a middle finger over her shoulder. “They don’t seem to realize that we can turn them into actualrats.”

Alecto chuckled. “How fitting that would be.”

Of course, it was no surprise that boys were drooling as Jolene walked past them.

Tonight, she had half of her long, dark hair pulled up into two horns, letting the blue locks shine as they waved down her back. Jolene opted for a black dress similar to Alecto’s, but hers was made of velvet and not silk and had a very high cut, going almost all the way up to the nook where her thigh connected with her hip.

And if that wasn’t enough to get people’s hearts going, Jolene wore a golden chain dangling from her neck to her waist and then connecting around her exposed thigh.

Jolene always knew how to dress to own everyone’s attention.

“You have the amulet?” Jolene asked as they stopped before the door to the lockers. “I’m so fucking excited you don’t even know.”

Alecto laughed, pushing the door with her shoulder, and they entered the room full of witches getting ready for the game. As they made their way towards Blaze’s locker at the very back, many heads turned their way.

Neither Gabe nor Matias dared to look up as Alecto walked past them; the bruises on their faces were still fresh. It gave Alecto an unholy amount of satisfaction seeing them like this.

Oh, that’s nothing compared with what I have planned for you.

“Alecto?” Andro couldn’t hide the surprise as Alecto and Jolene approached.

Blaze next to him arched a brow, leaning against the door of his open locker. Perfect position for what Alecto needed.

Jolene immediately walked forwards, wrapping Andro in her arms.

“We came here to kiss you for good luck,” Jolene announced, all cheery. Then, she grabbed Andro’s face in her palms and brought her lips to his, giving him a wet smooch.

Andro laughed, pulling her in close and burying his face in her neck. Jolene squealed and laughed. “It tickles! Androoo!”

Blaze’s eyes flickered as Alecto met his gaze. “Did you bring me a kiss for good luck as well, baby?”

They hadn’t seen each other since the incident in the classroom. Since Blaze was on his knees in front of her, driving Alecto out of her mind with his tongue.
