Professor Gabetown nodded.

Blaze smirked.

Did she really think she was going to escape him?

Next evening, Blaze made his way to the library on the campus. It was poorly lit and quiet when Blaze walked in, pushing the heavy door with his shoulder.

He strode forwards, trying to spot Alecto.

They had agreed to work on their Herbalism project tonight, and Blaze was looking forwards to some more quality time trying to rile Alecto up.

Finally, he spotted her sitting at one of the tables at the very back of the library, a stack of textbooks already by her side.

“Good of you to show up,” Alecto said skeptically and arched a brow.

“I would never miss a chance to spend more time with you, Black,” Blaze drawled, and Alecto rolled her eyes. “And of course, I promised to be your most willing servant in this project of ours. So, I’m here for whatever you need.”

“For fuck’s sake, does this really work for you, like, ever?”

He shrugged, his smirk deepening.

“I don’t know, you tell me. Do the sweet words work on you, baby?” Blaze took a spot behind her, leaning down to whisper to her ear. “Do my words make you tremble, your soft thighs clenching at the promises they make?” Alecto’s shoulders stiffened, and Blaze chucked, his breath tickling her neck as he continued, “Do they make you want to scream? Do they make you want to give in and forget?”

Alecto didn’t answer, her breathing suddenly shallow. Blaze pulled away and strolled over to the corner where a massive brown leather armchair sat, one corner of it flush against the bookshelf.

He hummed a tune under his breath as he settled on it, his legs spread wide. He rested his head on the back of it, eyeing Alecto from afar.

A long, heavy silence stretched between them, but Blaze didn’t rush to shatter it.

He let it sink its claws in them, building the tension that surely promised to lead them somewhere tonight.

He wasn’t sure where, but he had a feeling it was going to be worth it.

There was something in Alecto’s face, the way her sharp and usually cold features were unraveling in front of his eyes, the way her gaze changed from icy to warm to scorching.

“Why did you choose to study here?” Blaze asked, playing with his lighter, flicking it on and off.

“Because it’s peaceful and quiet.”

“Plenty of privacy, right? Not something you get back at the House.”

Blaze dragged his bottom lip through his teeth. Alecto’s eyes narrowed, lips pressed into a tight line.

And then, suddenly, Alecto straightened her back, her eyes widening as if she had just realized something.

Blaze was about to ask her all about it, but words died in his throat as Alecto rose to her feet, her intense gaze locked with his.

“You know what I just realized?” she asked, rounding the desk to stand in front of Blaze.

“Do tell me, Black.”

“I could use a good fuck,” Alecto confessed, licking her lips. Heat surged through Blaze. “And how convenient it is that you’re right here, right now.”

Out of everything that Alecto could have said, these words were the last ones Blaze expected to hear.

But the thing that truly worried him was the way his heart hammered behind his ribs, the way his cock twitched in his pants.
