Blaze fidgeted in his spot, his muscles aching for a comfortable bed and a long blunt to put him to sleep.

Maybe he shouldn’t have gotten so drunk at the party last night.

“I’m going to die of boredom,” he muttered, turning to Andro.

The boy next to him was deeply interested in his nails right now. A matching white shirt hung from Andro’s tall and lean frame. But instead of black, gold glitter was streaked atop his high brown cheekbones.

“I know, right,” Andro said. “I don’t even know why they bother with the other eight Houses. They’re so dull and boring.”

Blaze nodded, even though it wasn’t what he meant.

He didn’t really care for any other Houses except the Snakes. And even then, he only cared about the Snakes enough to keep on his father’s good side.

Just barely though.

Blaze’s survival instincts werelacking, to say the least. So it wasn’t a surprise that he enjoyed taunting his fate more often than he should have.

Right then, a familiar platinum blond head came into Blaze’s view. He tipped his head to the side—just slightly—to have a better view of where Alecto stood, blue eyes darting around the crowd.

Well, maybe tonight didn’t have to bethatboring after all.

Without second thought, Blaze made his way towards Alecto, brushing past people carelessly in the crowd.

Blaze didn’t like Alecto.

On certain days, his dislike could be considered borderlinehate. But there was something that forced him to gravitate towards her.

Maybe it was the way her eyes flickered, angry and sharp as daggers whenever he teased her with all the intentions of being mean and cruel for the sake of his own entertainment.

Or maybe it was the fact that Blaze was looking for someone to sink his claws in.

Someone to play with.

And who was a better victim than a lonely half breed?

Blaze found himself towering over Alecto, a crooked smile tugging on the corner of his lips as she lifted her gaze to meet his.

The way her eyes sparkled with icy rage indicated that he had made the right choice.

Ah, sweet.

“What the fuck are you looking at, pleased as a cat?” Alecto snapped but kept her voice low.

“Well, why wouldn’t I be pleased to be in your company?” Blaze drawled, lazily dragging a finger over her naked shoulder, tracing the line of a rose tattoo—one of many—gracing her left arm.

Her skin was soft.

He ignored it.

“I’m not in the mood for your games, Blaze.”

Bingo.

“And why is that?” he mused, grinning wider. “Not a fan of a little bit of public affection, Black?”

Alecto turned her face away, focusing on the stage where the Pigs were finally done with their pathetic ritual, leaving the stage at the other end.

Val, standing at the front of their group, started barking out commands.
