“Yeah,” Norse spat. “Now let’s see how Leveau will feel when I take something that’s his away from him. Just because I can.”

Alecto spat in his face. “Fuck you, Fox.”

Norse chuckled. He let go of her face to wipe the saliva off his. From his belt, he drew his athame and held it against Alecto’s cheek.

“I’m going to carve you up. And I’ll make sure you’re screaming and crying and begging all the way until I’m done with you. Nobody can hear you here.”

Alecto only smirked at his threat. “Promise?”

She wasn’t going to go down crying and begging.

Norse bared his teeth at her, grabbing her her throat.

The door upstairs flew open, and a rush of footsteps climbed down to the basement.

“Norse Fox, drop the athame!” shouted an unfamiliar voice. Alecto turned her head to see five police officers on the stairs. “You’re under arrest for the murders of Jack Riverblood, Fallon Star, and Rebecca Moon, and for the attempted murders of Blaze Leveau and Alecto Black. Step away from the girl.”

Norse was frozen for a moment. Then he looked at Alecto with a puzzled expression.

“Got you,” Alecto sneered.

Two policemen got a hold of Norse, and he didn’t fight them as they led him up the stairs.

“Oh, thank the Gods we got here in time!” Jolene cried out, rushing down the stairs.

One of the officers untied Alecto from the torture device, and Jolene hugged her.

“You got everything?” Alecto asked.

“Yes, bitch,” Val said, smiling. “Well done, Black. We got all the confession straight to the chief of police.”

Blaze was right behind her, his eyes intense.

Alecto held his stare for a while and then turned away when Andro pulled her into a tight hug.

“I’m so glad you’re okay,” he murmured into her hair.

“I’m so glad this is fucking over,” Alecto said.

There was a knock on Alecto’s door.

She sighed, annoyed at the interruption. It wasn’t like she was busy with important things, but after the shit that had gone down with Norse, she needed some alone time.

Before she could grant entrance to whoever it was, the door opened.

“What the fuck do you want?” Alecto snapped at Blaze.

Silently, he closed the door behind him, coming to stand at the foot of her bed. Alecto sat down, glaring at him.

“You were right,” Blaze said.

“Which time?”

Blaze smirked. “About me not having a right to be angry with you about your secret revenge plan. I’ve done horrible things to you, and I don’t deserve to have you.”

Alecto blinked.
