Blaze shrugged. “You do what you gotta do, baby.”
And the Snakes always did.

“Jolene!” Blaze roared—a second time—crossing the rockey field. Andro ran right on his heels.
Slowly, Jolene turned, acknowledging that she had, indeed, heard Blaze the first time around. She mockingly smiled and waved before returning to her conversation with the twins.
The Thornhearttwins.
The motherfuckers who ruled Hollowbay University. And the cocaptains of the team they were playing the rockey game against tonight.
Ah, if Jolene thought Blaze was going to let this one go, she’d be greatly disappointed.
“You can’t go talking with the enemy like that,” Blaze announced, coming to an abrupt stop in front of the twins and Jolene.
It would have been a way more effective entrance, if Andro had managed to stop on time, instead of slamming into Blaze’s back and almost sending them tumbling down on their faces.
“The fuck I can, Leveau!” Jolene shot back.
“And you tryin’ to play tonight’s game withthancoordination?” RainorZion—Blaze could never, for the love of the Gods, tell those motherfuckers apart—mocked.
“Better for us, Z,” the other bastard chimed in, smirking darkly. He glanced at his twin and jerked his chin. “Won’t even need to lift a finger to win.”
“Keep dreaming,Thornheart,” Blaze snapped, coming to stand face-to-face with Rain. Their chests were almost touching as they stared at each other. “You’ll be lucky if this time you walk off the field with all your bones intact.”
Rain sneered, his upper lip peeling to reveal a row of perfectly white teeth.
Ah, the fucker remembered.
After the final game with Hollowbay last year, Rain walked out with a broken armandnose.
All thanks to Blaze.
He, of course, didn’t come out unscratched himself.
But all three broken ribs had been worth it.
And Blaze would do it again in a heartbeat.
“For fuck’s sake,” Jolene cursed, pushing between them. She braced her palms on Blaze’s chest, shoving him backwards.
Jolene really didn’t have the strength to move Blaze, but he took two steps away. Only because they were members of the same House and the Inner Circle.
Smirking, Rain pouted and sent a few wet smooches Blaze’s way. Blood roared in Blaze’s ears.
It was a good thing Andro was there; he helped Jolene drag Blaze away so he wouldn’t break Rain’s nosebeforethe game even started.
“What the fuck is the matter with you?” Jolene demanded once they were a few feet away from the guys. “You’re like an animal when it comes to these stupid fucking games.”
Blaze huffed, twisting himself out of Andro’s grip. Then he straightened his uniform and marched through the field towards the lockers.
The truth was, Blaze was an animal.
Especially on days when his head pounded with a headache, his vision swimming from yet another hangover that just didn’t seem to go away.
And beating other teams to let out his frustration was the best way forward.
