With his shoulder, Blaze pushed the locker door, entering the room. The rest of the team was dressed, ready to go and kick ass.

And Blaze needed something to make his head stop spinning.

He reached his locker, pulling the handle to open it. It didn’t give.

Immediately, his temper rose like a hungry beast. But Blaze managed to get himself under control, inhaling a long breath.

He knocked near the lock a few times to loosen the hinges, and the door finally gave in.

From his bag, Blaze fished out a packet of painkillers Gillian had prescribed him when he’d broken his rib last trimester.

He popped one black pill on his tongue, then swallowed it as he was already making way back to the field.

“You seem a bit agitated,” Andro said the moment Blaze stepped foot out the locker room. “You good there?”

Blaze cracked his neck to the sides, grumbling something under his breath. Even he didn’t know what the fuck came out of his mouth.

They reached the benches, striding up to their places at the very end. Blaze’s hands trembled as he fastened the leather strap over his feet to secure his board in place.

Huh.That was unusual.

Blaze straightened his back and had to close his eyes for a moment because the whole world was spinning.

He didn’t even hear Andro calling for him the first time.

“Blaze?” Finally, the pressure in Blaze’s ears had lowered enough for him to hear. “Dude, what the fuck’s wrong with you?”

Rolling his shoulders, Blaze said, “Nothing. All good, Long Legs.”

Andro didn’t look one ounce convinced.

“Remember the strategy we talked about?” Blaze changed the topic. “You stay available and ready for the ball. I’m gonna break their skulls for you.”

Andro’s lips quirked into a small smile. “What a gentleman you are, Leveau.”

“Only for you.”

Blaze took off, gliding through the air towards the middle of the field, where Rain and Zion were already waiting with the rest of their teams.

Rain or Zion—Blaze had already forgotten which one was which—followed Blaze’s movements like a hawk.

So, when Blaze came to a stop, he sent a playful wink and a smooch to the fucker.

When the guy smirked, Blaze realized it was Rain.

While the twins looked identical, with raven-dark hair and forest-green eyes, Rain had that look—the look of someone who’s hiding a certain type of darkness beneath their exterior, as if there was a beast trapped behind the iron bars, only waiting for the chance to taste freedom and madness.

How fascinating.

“Pick a body part,” Rain said, jerking his chin.

Blaze smirked.Ah, so that’s how it’s gonna be.“Your neck.”

Rain didn’t have the time to answer as the referee whistled, throwing the ball over their heads, and Blaze was on it in an instant.

The ball landed in his hand, and he whirled, gliding towards the Hollowbay gates. In his periphery he could see Andro crouched over his board, whizzing through the air.

Excited, with adrenaline pumping in his veins, Blaze wanted to tilt his head to the sky and howl.
