Their magic weaved around them, tickling Blaze’s skin. Only when the last of the ingredients inside the bowl turned into ash did it calm down.

“Did it work?” Galia asked once they stopped the chant.

Val nodded. “It should have. We’ll find out soon enough.”

Galia let go of Rogue’s hand. She murmured a spell to seal her wound. “And are you one hundred percent certain that the wards didn’t detect the blood magic?”

Jolene scoffed. “Who do you think we are? Amateurs? Please.”

“Tomorrow, once you swear a blood oath to the Dean, I want to know what he wants you do immediately,” Val said to Galia.

“If your spell worked, then you will,” Galia said and left.

The next morning Alecto had trouble waking up. She yawned and looked at the clock on her nightstand that showed it was already eight in the morning.

“Fuck this shit,” she murmured and pulled her blanket over her head.

She could have lay in bed for another hour or two, but she wouldn’t be able to get any quality sleep with so many things on her mind. So, it would be more useful to get up and start the day.

Slowly, Alecto managed to drag herself out of the warm bed and get ready. She didn’t have any morning lectures today, so she planned to spend the morning reading through her mother’s journal.

She dreaded it, but she’d convinced herself that there might be something that would help them find the reason behind Dean’s actions.

From the hidey-hole in her wall, she pulled out the journal and tossed it on her bed. She carefully placed the brick back into the wall, got the journal, and left her room.

As she climbed the stairs up to the third floor, she hesitated. Maybe it would be better if she read the journal alone first and only then shared it with someone else.

But Alecto didn’t want to face it alone.

Without knocking, Alecto walked into Blaze’s room. He was spread out in the middle of the bed on his stomach, still asleep.

Alecto quietly walked up to him, put the journal on his bedside table and climbed onto the bed. She straddled Blaze’s waist and then leaned down to plant a kiss between his shoulder blades.

He grumbled something into the pillow, slowly waking up.

Smiling, Alecto ran her palms over his shoulders, across his arms, and down his back. His skin was hot, and just touching him like this gave her butterflies.

“Wake up, sleepyhead,” Alecto said. She dragged her nails down his back, leaving red marks behind.

Blaze moaned into the pillow, goose bumps skittering over his skin. Alecto wiggled her hips over his ass, adding pressure to his groin.

“Baby, you are threading a dangerous line here,” Blaze said, in that rough morning voice that gave Alecto pleasurable chills.

“Is that so?” Alecto asked, her voice light. She loved teasing him so much. “And what are you going to do about it?”

In one smooth move, Blaze rolled over and pulled Alecto down on the bed. Now he was on top of her, his palms braced on each side of her head.

Blaze slept naked, and Alecto got to enjoy the full view right now. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer.

“Why are you in my bed and not naked?” Blaze asked, kissing her neck.

“Because I’m not here to fuck,” Alecto said.

She leaned her head back, allowing him more access to her neck. Blaze kissed the sensitive flesh there and then made his way down to her chest.

After he planted a kiss between her breasts, he looked up. “Are you sure about that? How about you let me convince you otherwise?”
