Alecto chuckled and ran a hand through his dark hair.
In his hand, Blaze cupped one of Alecto’s breasts, and his mouth closed around the other, caressing her nipple through the material of her top.
Against Alecto’s will, a moan escaped her, and she arched her back. She pushed Blaze’s head down, desperate for more.
Blaze’s tongue drew circles around her hard nipple, and the fabric of her top added friction against the sensitive flesh. It felt so good, Alecto didn’t want Blaze to stop.
But they needed to read the journal. Sooner rather than later.
So Alecto pulled on Blaze’s hair, and he lifted his head. He arched an eyebrow in question, his hand was still playing with her other nipple.
“I brought my mom’s journal,” Alecto said, breathless. “I haven’t read much since we unlocked it. But I think it’s time.”
Blaze pushed himself off Alecto, and she missed the warmth and the weight of his body on top of her. He kneeled between her legs, a line wedged between his eyebrows.
“Okay,” he said after a moment of thought. “Do you think there will be anything there that explains your mother’s relationship to Galliermo?”
Alecto sat down and folded her legs underneath her. She took the journal from his nightstand and flipped through the pages.
“I think so,” she said. “Galliermo is mentioned in one of the entries I read already, but just as a friend. Well, she did say that he was cute.” Alecto looked at Blaze and his naked hard cock in front of her. “You should get dressed.”
A dark smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth. “Ah, and here comes her mortal modesty again. Is my nakedness disturbing you?”
Alecto placed her palm flat against his naked chest and pushed him. “Your nakedness distracts me. Plus, yuck, we might be reading about our parents fucking. I really don’t want to sexualize that moment.”
Chuckling, Blaze hopped off the bed and went into his bathroom. A moment later he reappeared with a toothbrush sticking from his mouth, wearing grey sweatpants low on his hips.
Dead Gods…
Alecto pinched the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes so hard, she could see stars. It was like he was trying to mess with her head on purpose.
When she opened her eyes again, Blaze was leaning against the window, brushing his teeth. His dark eyes were on her, and the bastard was smirking.
Alecto narrowed her eyes and flipped him off. He chuckled and opened the window.
“This might help you cool off, Black,” he said and then went back to the bathroom.
Alecto had the urge to throw something at his back for being such a smug asshole. While she did enjoy their new dynamic, it was still hard for her to be in such a vulnerable position where Blaze could see exactly how strong of an effect he had on her body and soul.
When Blaze returned, he settled on the windowsill and lit up a cigarette.
“So, how are we going to do this?” Blaze asked. “Should we just read every entry in chronological order or flip through and look for clues?”
Alecto caressed the black leather cover and shrugged. “I have no clue. But…”
She paused, staring at the notebook.
“What’s up, baby?” Blaze’s voice was gentle. “Tell me what’s going on in that pretty head of yours.”
“I— I’m just scared of reading this,” Alecto admitted. She hadn’t uttered these words out loud before. “I am afraid that the image of my mother in my mind is not real. I already know she wasn’t exactly who I thought she was all these years… And I’m afraid that by the time I finish this journal, I’ll find out that she was a total stranger.”
Alecto’s eyes stung with unshed tears. She blinked hard, dreading the idea of breaking down in front of Blaze over something so insignificant.
What Alecto didn’t expect was for Blaze to come over to her and pull her into a warm embrace. He kneeled in front of her on his bed and held her tight against his chest.
Alecto wrapped her arms around him and held tight, as if that could protect her from finding out the truth about her mother.
“You know,” Blaze said after a few moments of silence. “I know this seems daunting as Hel, but here’s the thing you forget.” He pulled away and cupped her face in his palms. “You might be the bravest fucking witch I have ever come across.”
