“She’s showing signs of an enchantress.” The fairy’s eyes met Zane’s black ones, “How is that even possible?”
“Enchantress?” I questioned.
“Easy,” Logan cracked a pistachio shell, half sat on the table, and tossed the nut into his mouth, “she dabbled in shit like that all the time.”
“Why would a wolf-shifter teen want to be a witch, Logan?” she asked.
“She was raised around that shit,” Braden snapped. “So, what the fuck ever,” he sighed, “let us go get the kid out of your school of fairies, and the problems all die then and there. Why are we being interrogated for something that a mindless teen is doing to probably try and fit in with a bunch of fairy-witches at your school?”
“Because, oddly enough, she’s in some tight group, or should I say, relationship, with three extremely powerful beings. This has upset my top fairy and witch students, and they mean her harm.”
“What the hell?” I asked, trying to piece this crazy-ass place together in my head.
“Precisely mine and all of my staff’s thoughts at the school as well.” She eyed the Banners, Zane, and now Zac, who so generously finally graced us with his presence. “Why exactly would she have three boys who are all about protecting her, and quite possibly, interested in more than only an innocent friendship. It looks like she must take after her mother with this ridiculous lifestyle—”
The fairy was caught by the throat by a golden blade of a dagger that Zac surprisingly held to her, “You know that this blade can end you and anything that’s touched your stupid fairy ass with one prick of your skin. Insult our girl or the teen again, and I’ll make sure it goes into your heart.”
“Fine,” she swallowed hard. “Tomorrow, I’ll bring you to the dimension, and we’ll bring her out to the world where the child belongs. No one faults me, though, if she chooses to stay with her three lovers instead.”
“Those horny-ass boys will deal with her alpha dad and friendly uncle immortal vamps when we meet them. The relationships will end, and we’ll have her out of your place,” Cole said.
“Shit,” I rubbed my forehead. “She’s most likely committed and protected by these boys.” I looked at Cole, “It’s something we can’t sever. I would die if someone were to end all of us like that, and I can’t imagine what is going through her mind.”
“Trust me, Aria is very sly and rebellious,” the fairy queen said. “I’m Esmeralda, by the way, and I’m sorry introductions weren’t made properly. You must excuse me for being distracted by my former lover’s untimely demise.”
“Is that blade the reason you’re kissing our asses?” I asked.
“Possibly,” she grinned. “Your daughter shares your boldness. I should like very much to have her taken out of my school.”
“You think Caiden brought her in?”
“It’s the only reason a human was in my realm, school, and more than that, hiding under my nose for at least a month before it was revealed that she’s not an enchantress or even a true blonde teen that should even be there.”
“A month?” I asked, confused. “Do you have to be blonde to go to your school?”
“Time moves differently in the Land of the Fae, and this school has very particular rules. If you follow them, you survive. If you don’t, my strongest supernatural students can destroy you or your reputation.”
“Sounds like a bullshit place to be,” I snapped, pissed off my daughter was at this place.
“The weak are forced to be held back until they can function properly, and the strong move into either human realms or into high-society of the Fae realm.”
“You all are such arrogant asses,” Logan rolled his eyes. “Oh, and news flash, we’re not waiting until you get your beauty sleep either, we’re going now.”
“We wait until academics break before I cause a rift in the school. Aria does not leave until I lift the hold on the girl. Upset me further, and you never find her, and she never leaves.” She looked back at Zac, who held the stunning gold dagger, “Kill me, and you guarantee you’ll never see her again. Are we all on the same page?”
“We all get it. Now, what has the Fae realm learned about Enzo and these fabricated vamps he’s been creating?” Cole said.
“Enzo is upsetting the universe. You all have been foretold to end his works.” She looked at Val, “But something is blocking all of you, and I’ve been trying to figure that out since your arrival.” She pursed her lips, “I know you’re a seer, vampire, so why are your talents hidden from yourself and from me?”
“Million-dollar question,” Val answered. “We’re not as concerned about that as we are Aria being in your realm as a half-human and half-shifter.”
“There’s something more to her as well,” Esmeralda said. “It’s as blocked as you are,” she glanced around at all of us, “as you all are. It almost feels as though I am speaking with your ghost selves.”
“Spare us the fairy dramatics. We’re blocking your dumbass because you’re a fairy, and we don’t and won’t trust you until Aria is out of that bullshit school,” Braden said.
“My daughter will be recovered without an ounce of stress or damage done to her. I’m shocked you’ve held her in this long, knowing she was a half-blood and not of pure supernatural descent.”
“If I remove her, my treasured young men who have fallen for the child will leave with her. I wasn’t willing to let them go loose in society and have their parents blame me for this until I had answers. Amazingly enough, when I questioned Caiden, he’d already had those answers. I believe fate is working as it sees best for all of us.”
