I licked my parched lips, worried about what Aria had faced after she was kidnapped and taken to this place. Who was the person or being that brought her there and why? How on Earth did Aria turn up in a relationship with more than one individual like I had? Was Aria’s blood fueling them? Did they need her as much as she needed them like I felt with my vampires?
God, we couldn’t get to her fast enough, but this fairy—I knew we shouldn’t trust—offered us alooking globe—and instantly, I saw my beautiful daughter, laughing and in the middle of three overly handsome men who exuded power and protectiveness. She was safe, and now part of me wanted her to stay in this place and kill her grandfather for putting her there.
“Oh, my God,” I said out loud, feeling and knowing instantly after seeing that Aria was older and even more mature than I had imagined she would be.
“What?” Zane asked, his expression that of a father ready to kill the three guys who were overly flirty with his daughter while we watched them walk through a forest before he begged the screen to go black. He surely didn’t see what we knew was about to go down between Aria and the boys. It was apparent they wanted nothing more than to give my daughter love and pleasure like the young woman she’d turned into deserved.
“Enzo is the reason she’s there,” I said. “I felt his essence or whatever the hell it was. He placed her there with his Gemini twins. It’s like he’s trying to hide her and them from us.”
“You have something you want to say, you lying fairy bitch from hell?” Zane growled at the fairy’s wide eyes, looking at me as if I’d just gone into an ethereal mode on her.
“How would you know orfeelany of that?” she said in a low voice. “Unless.”
“Say it out loud for all to hear, and you’ll die before them. We trust no one, and you’re lucky we let you lead us down your rabbit holes filled with lies. Our next stop is Enzo, and I have a pretty good feeling Aria will bust her way out of your stupid prison of a school after she senses her parents have just watched her through your damn portal glass.”
“She’s not the—”
“We’re every fucking thing your mind is revealing to you right now. Elle’s the Life Blood, and on top of that, her sweet little ass is mated to the alpha, forging a bond that is serving to turn the wolf shifter into an intense killing machine. Aria is their daughter, born under a shaman bond with our immortal blood, lifeblood, and three alphas’ blood, running strong in the bond. You have no fucking idea how powerful that child is, and unless you want this shit to go nuclear, you’ll stop working for Enzo now and start working withus,” Cole said.
“How do I help?”
Logan smirked, “Simple. Tell us where the mother fucker is, and use your fairy shit to teleport us directly to his location. Then, you’ll tell him yourself when you see him staring at us as if we were his personal death angel, that you brought us there, and it’s time to sit down and go over some shit.”
“He’ll kill me.”
“You either take the chance with him or we kill you with the blade Zac retrieved thanks to Alexi. Like we said, we’re not here to make friends. We need allies, and we need supernaturals who are willing to fight to keep their races alive, or Lucifer himself will make you his trophy,” Cole said.
“So, the rumors of the diabolical war were true?”
“Yep,” Cole answered.
“Good God, I am speechless.”
“Well, come up with something because you’re about to snap our asses to Enzo’s realm right now.”
“He won’t believe you,” she said to Braden.
“Then, we’ll force his hand by threatening his precious little twins,” Braden answered. “Use your magic ball and get those twins locked up, so we have them as bargaining tools when we get to Enzo.”
“I have to go and do this personally. I’ll take the seer so you know I’m good on my word,” she said.
“You’ll take me,” Zane arched an eyebrow at her. “That’s how we know you’ll be good on your word.”
“I’m going too,” I said, desperately needing to see Aria.
“Bad idea, Ellie,” Logan said. “Cole will go in your place. We have to be smart about all of this.”
Cole eyed the fairy. “Give me the blade, Zac,” he said as Zac leaned the blade toward him. “Alright, Esmerelda, let’s go lock up some twins and get back before the sun rises tomorrow.”
“Cole,” I said, “Are you sure this is safe?”
“We have Aria on the other end of this,” he smiled, “I know it is. You being here keeps you safe. Zac,” he looked at his cousin, “I think Ellie can use a distraction, and you playing her off like you did to get the damn dagger with Alexi probably has our girl in need of making sure you know she’s yours, and you’re only hers.”
“What the fuck did you dumb assholes do to work up Elle?”
“Fucked you over,” Logan grinned. “Used the fact that you and Alexi were fuck buddies to ignite the emotions of jealousy in Elle, so the fucking fairy queen was confused as shit with Elle’s mind being all over the damn place.”
“You’re an asshole,” Zac said, walking over to me, eying Cole, “When this shit is over, you’re paying for even conjuring up those bullshit emotions in our girl.”
