I closed my eyes and wouldn’t even look in the direction of the gorgeous shifter who’d fathered our child. He could kiss my ass with thattip-toe around mommybullshit.
“Come on, Ellie,” Logan hollered from the pool. “Ease up on the kid.”
“You guys aren’t making it any easier for her, either. Spoil her ass and see how far that gets her when she’s forced into these private schools for supernaturals. She’s going to get kicked out, not cherished for throwing a fit to get her way.”
“If a school kicks her out,” Braden smiled toward Logan, “then we suddenly have an issue with that place, and we’ll shut the shithole down.”
“You guys are ridiculous. She needs guidance and structure, not a bunch of guys she can bend at will,” I answered with my eyes closed, letting the sun warm my face.
“Why not? Her mother only needs to say one word, and she’s got all seven of her guys bending at her will,” Logan smarted off.
“Fuck you.”
“I’m right here, baby.” Logan made sure the splash I heard sprinkled me with water. “If those legs aren’t sore, we can try some new positions in the pool. Gravity won’t be working—”
“Shut up, Logan.” I dismissed him when I heard someone sit next to me, thinking it was Cole. I glanced over.Zane.“We need to talk,” I said.
“I know,” he answered, already defeated.
I sat up. “No, I’m serious. You can’t cave like that with her, and you sure as hell better stop making me out to be the bad guy every time she needs to be corrected. Is this how you ran your wolf pack before you, Bren, and Nakia joined our merge?”
“Hell no,” he leaned back, his chest way too tempting to even want to continue fighting with him. “Sorry, babe. I’ll make sure she starts understanding what rules, manners, and respect means.”
“That would be nice,” I answered. “All seven of you do nothing but gush all over her, so it’s obvious that I’m going to lose this battle every time. We’re raising a monster if you continue spoiling her like this.”
“I get it, Elle,” Zane’s voice was low and filled with annoyance.
This is part of the weirdness that was happening between all of us. The vampires weren’t snappy or moody, but they never had been before either. The wolves? They were turning into dicks, and speaking of which, their dicks would not be getting attention from me if they kept being jerks.
“Where’s Nakia and Bren?” I asked, my eyes closed again, trying to ignore him being on edge.
“They ran out to get something to eat,” Zane answered. “Cole’s shitty breakfast wasn’t holding them over until the food Zac was supposed to bring in this afternoon got here.”
I sat up and took my sunglasses off. “Listen, asshole,” I said, my temper now matching his nasty mood. “Zac is bringing Val here to help figure out what the hell is going on with all of us. Your mood is telling me that her giving us info is less important than you jerks, eating an entire animal every two hours.”
“I’m just answering your question.”
“No,” I retorted. “You’re acting like a huge a dick about everything. Quit insulting the vampires. I’m sick of all this shit, and it’s going from bad to worse by the second.”
He sighed. “I know. I feel it, but it’s hard to control.”
“Find a way.”
“Easier said than done.” Zane’s stunning, dark, fuck meeyes bore into mine. “I’m having more difficulty than just battling the fact I should be running an entire pack—as my nature intends. Now, I have to fight off wanting to kill Logan for fucking you all night.”
“For fuck’s sake,” I exhaled loudly as I rolled my eyes. “It’s not going to come down to this.”
“Well, I’m stating why I’m in a pissy mood. I don’t share my female naturally, either.”
I looked at him, eyes pleading, “Fight through it, then. I am not going to feel like I’m some passed around whore between all of you. I’m not dealing with this jealousy nonsense. Not after what we’ve all been through. The night you got me pregnant, you didn’t seem to mind sharing so much, now did you? So, get the fuck over it.”
“Right now, I couldn’t even imagine that happening without me wanting to rip Cole’s dick off for being anywhere around you while I was fucking my girl.”
“Just stop. I’m not having this conversation. You know how it was before, so find a way to get back to that normalcy—even if it wasn’t fucking normal.”
“None of this shit is normal,” I heard Val’s sultry voice. “Get the fuck out of my chair, wolf,” she ordered Zane.
“Yeah, why don’t you get the hell out of my sight too,” I said, entirely over Zane’s asshole mood.
