He pauses, finishing his drink. He turns to me, his hand coming to my cheek. He has a worried look in his eyes that makes me want to cry.

I see the muscles in his neck work as he swallows hard. Then, looking in my eyes, he says, “This thing between us, it’s not fake for me anymore. I’m not sure when it happened, but I fell for you. I am still falling for you. You’re my best friend and my lover. I couldn’t ask to find anyone else who is so perfect for me.” He takes a deep breath. “I don’t want an end date on this. I don’t care if we have to get married, get divorced, and then start all over again, so you know it’s real. Gigi, I want you by my side. It doesn’t matter your label, as long as you’re mine.”

His eyes soften just before he says the words I’ve longed to hear from him.

“I love you, Gigi.”

Chapter Seventy-Six

Marcus

Isay the words and her eyes squeeze shut, a single tear slipping down her left cheek. She shakes her head, leaning away from my touch, her hands flying up to cover her face. My chest tightens. What have I done?It feels like everything is falling apart right in front of me.

I turn my chair to fully face her, turning her in her seat to look at me. I gently take her wrists in my hands, lowering her arms so I can see her eyes.

“Gigi, I’m so sorry. I didn’t—”

“Shut up.”

Confusion rushes through me. “I don’t—”

She looks up at me with wet eyes, the corners of her mouth turning upward. “This hasn’t been fake for me for a whilenow, Marcus,” she says softly, and my eyes search hers as she continues. “I just needed to hear you say it first. I needed to know you wanted me for me and not because of how I felt or words that I said.”

“Fuck, princess, you scared me.”

A tearful giggle escapes her lips. “I’m sorry. It’s just so us for you to be scared when I finally say I love you.”

I can’t help but smile. “You love me?”

Tears roll down her cheeks as she nods her head rapidly. “Yeah, Charming, I love you.”

I slide my hand under her hair, around the back of her neck, pulling her to me. I place my lips on hers and feel the change. My life won’t be the same from this moment on. She slowly worked her way into my life, under my skin, and accepted every part of me.

“Did you follow your rule this evening?”

Her eyes open wide. “Yes, why?”

“We need to handle the check, but I really need to feel you come right now.”

“Right here?” she whispers.

“Scoot your chair forward so your lap is covered by the tablecloth, princess.”

She looks around us. “What if someone sees us?”

“I’m more concerned you can’t stay quiet. Now, do as you’re told.”

She blushes, but does as I ask, while I flag down the waiter. As he approaches our table, I gently run my hand up her thigh, my fingertips barely brushing her skin. I glide under her dress to the apex of her thighs and slip a finger inside, gathering her wetness. I work up to her clit, rubbing in firm circles.

The waiter returns with my card, and I thank him with a smile as Gigi looks off to the side. Her lips rolled inward. I change myrhythm against her and she grabs my arm. “Hurry up and sign the fucking check, prince.”

I had been about to sign the check left-handed, but instead, I set the pen down and bring my elbow to rest on the table, leaning over to her. “We don’t leave here until you come.”

“Fucking hell.” She releases my arm, bringing her hands to her wine glass.

I start moving again. I watch as her breathing picks up. She licks her lips, and I think I might die. I dip a finger inside, and she shifts in her chair, her leg shaking against mine. I return to her clit, circling faster. Her eyelids go heavy as she trembles.

I lean into her ear. “Are you coming?”
