“Her pussy must be really good if she’s got youthisworked up.”

I clenched my fists, pretending to ignore it. If I was going to walk out with a signed deal, then I was going to need to walk in there with a cohesive team, even if I wanted to punch the only other half of that team in the face. “Hurry up,” I barked at him, satisfied when his feet quickly shuffled behind me to catch up. He wouldn’t have a job when we got back to Chicago.

My body was deliciouslysore from waking up with Demetri, and I let the hot water from the shower run over my skin. Images from the morning crossed my mind and sent a rush of heat to my center. I sighed as I rinsed the last of the conditioner from my hair and turned off the water, standing and letting the drops fall from me before I grabbed my towel from the rack.

The white towel was soft and warm against my skin, and when my phone buzzed on the counter, I reached for it. My heart rate picked up at the name on the screen.Demetri.A smile stretched across my face, like a schoolgirl getting her first call from a big crush.

DEMETRI:I’d rather be inside of you than going to this meeting. Can’t stop thinking about you.

I set the phone down, blushing. I was sure I was in over my head, but I was used to feeling like I was drowning. At least with Demetri, I’d drown willingly. I had told him I loved him, and he said it back.

The towel I had wrapped around me lifted when I half sat on the counter, exposing my ass. I turned, dropping the towel from the side of my breast and holding it in my hand. Sucking my bottom lip between my teeth, I clicked the button capturing the picture and hit send before I could change my mind.

ME:Just a little something to get you by.

DEMETRI:Fuck, sunshine. That doesn’t help anything.

I chuckled, dropping the towel and slipping on my favorite leggings and a tank top. Humming to myself, I ran a brush through my hair and applied moisturizer to my face.

Demetri would have probably been pulling up to the meeting when he got that picture. Picturing the discomfort on his face made me laugh, and a satisfied feeling came over me. When my phone went off again, I hurried to pick it up and unlock the screen. My stomach dropped.

FISHER:Time’s up, princess. Where’s my money?

ME:I don’t have it yet. I’m trying.

FISHER:I know your new boyfriend has more than enough to cover it.

ME:He’s not my boyfriend. Leave him out of this.

His next text was a picture. Demetri and I stood with our bodies and lips pressed together, and I was naked with nothing but his hand on my ass. Crawling to the toilet, I threw up the breakfast Demetri had made me eat. In the picture, we were standing in front of the bed in our hotel room.Thishotel room.

FISHER:You look awfully cozy.

ME:Please, I’ll get you the money, and if I don’t you can kill me, but please. Don’t hurt him.

FISHER:I’m not in the mood to take requests today. I’ll be in touch. Get the money.

FISHER:Or else, Andy…

I stared at the screen of my phone for a moment, gasping for air. Should I run? If I left, Fisher would come for me, but would he leave Demetri alone? I considered it. The idea of anything happening to him made my chest constrict. I could feel the irregular beating of my heart in my neck, and no matter how many times I counted to five, I couldn’t slow my breathing down.

The curtains were drawn around me and the lights remained off. My legs had fallen asleep over an hour ago, but they stayed curled under me with my arms crossed tightly across my body. Every time I rocked, my back met the wall and I shivered. The hairs on my arms and neck stood on end, and the speed of my heartbeat didn’t slow down. He had been watching us.He could have been watching now.

When the door handle rattled and the door opened, I cowered into the corner, covering my face with my hands. Peeking between my fingers, I recognized the tall, muscular man who stood in the doorway. I instantly found comfort in his short, dark hair that was just long enough to wrap my fingers in and the scruff on his chin that would feel rougher against my skin because he didn’t have time to trim it this morning.

“Why are you sitting in the dark?” he asked, turning on the light and throwing the drapes back.

“No!” I squealed, jumping to my feet. “Close them, close them!” I yanked the fabric together in a frenzy, causing Demetri to jump back, startled.

“Andy, what the hell?!” He grabbed my arms and pulled me towards him. “What happened? Did somebody hurt you?” His fingers were soft, a direct contrast to the panicked fury in his expression, when he brushed my hair out of my face while I just stared at him. “Sweetheart, talk to me.”

“You should sit down,” I choked out before tears welled in my eyes.

Worry covered his face, but he sat on the bed, staring at me. “What’s going on?”

“I don’t know how to say this,” I said, as his shoulders instantly stiffened. I told him about the way Fisher had followed us and the way he demanded money from me and threatened to kill me if I didn’t give it to him. When I showed him the picture, he ripped my phone from my hand. “I’m scared.”
