Breathing turned to panting and her legs started to quiver. “You’re so close, sunshine. You’re doing so good,” I said against her mouth.

Her movements sped up, growing uneven. I pulled my lips from hers, biting her neck and relishing in the way her cries echoed off the wall behind us. “Demetri, oh!”

“That’s it, just like that. Come apart for me.”

She did, collapsing against me. I grabbed her hips and thrust upward into her, causing her to grab onto my shoulders. She dug her nails into the skin when I picked up the pace, riding through her orgasm until I closed in on my own.

A groan rumbled in my chest as I came, holding her to me. Sweat dewed on her skin, and she breathed hard against my neck. Her body was limp against mine, and goose bumps raised on her arms and neck when I ran my finger up her spine.

“Demetri, I love you.”

I put my fingers under her chin and guided her face to mine. “I love you too, sunshine. More than anything.” She smiled, and my heart hammered against my ribcage.

The silence as I held her was comforting, and she hummed against my chest. I chuckled, pressing my lips to the top of her head. “Truth or dare?”

Her languid giggle shot to my core. “Dare.”

I wrapped my hand in her hair and moved my lips to her ear. “Move in with me.”

Andy shot upright, shock widening her eyes. “Are you serious?”

“I’ve never been more serious. I won’t live another day without you. When you wake up in the morning, I want to be the one holding you. I want to be the one making you scream at night, and I want everything in between. Move in with me, sweetheart. Please.”

Her lips were soft against mine, and she nodded.

“Is that a yes?” I asked her.

“Yes. Of course, it’s a yes.”

I kissed her again, lifting her from the couch and carrying her toourroom. “Good, because I wasn’t taking no for an answer.”

One Year Later

“Andy, let’s go. We’re going to be late.” Demetri stood against the door frame to the bathroom, watching me fuss with my hair for the fifth time.

I turned around and crossed my arms. “Isn’t itmyparty? That means it doesn’t start until I get there, so we can’t possibly be late.”

He rolled his eyes, stepping into the bathroom and lifting me onto the counter. “You’re impossible,” he chuckled, pressing his lips to the crook of my neck.

Moaning, I wrapped my legs around his waist. “Nowwho’s making us late, hmm?”

“Not me,” he said, pulling away from the counter and lifting me with him. “We’re leaving now.”

I swatted at his shoulder. “Demetri!”

“You can scream my name later, sunshine.” He sat me down, smacking my ass to nudge me to move towards the door. “But we have a party to get to, so move it.”

I wiggled my eyebrows, grabbing my purse. There was no use in arguing with the man. He always knew how to get his way.

Pulling up to the park, I pushed down the bad memories from the year before. I looked at the man next to me, raking my eyes over his casual khaki shorts and fitted navy T-shirt. In the last year, I’d left my comfort zone of Grand Rapids to start a new adventure with him in Chicago. I started to book travel arrangements for some of his business associates, and I was set to open my own travel agency next month.

My life had become something I’d never thought would be possible. I’ve never been loved the way I was with Demetri, and he encouraged me to chase every idea that came to my mind. He also encouraged me to cut off contact with my parents, and as he’d promised Auston, I see a therapist twice a month.

Demetri climbed out of the car, and I quickly opened my door and followed behind him. He closed his hand around mine, and we walked up to the party. The air smelled like funnel cakes, and the bells from the games brought on a childlike excitement I’d never actually experienced as a child.

“Happy birthday!” Jules shouted, throwing her arms around me and hugging me, even when her large belly got in the way. William and Auston stood behind her, wearing opposite expressions of disapproval and amusement.

“Should you be jumping like that?” I asked her with a laugh, putting my hand on the growing bump.
