“It’s perfect, sweetheart. Thank you.” I stand to give her a hug and she kisses my cheek. “Your mom would be proud of you,” she whispers in my ear, before pushing me back and holding me at arm’s length. “They both would.”

I give her a smile, to hide my trembling bottom lip. Not well enough as Leo wraps his arm around me and kisses me on the temple.

“Judge, I do believe we need words.” Pops gives him a serious look then tips his head sideways.

Leo lets out a deep breath, grumbles something about “Love Pres bullshit” and then wanders off, Mad Dog bringing up the rear.

“What is that about?” Lovely asks, looking around at us.

“Don’t ask babe,” Marx grumbles down at her, lips twitching.

“Anyhoo, now that two of the kids are sorted out, who wants to get sitters for the rest and have a girls night?” Nat asks. “At the farm, of course,” she adds quickly, glaring at Savage, daring him to say something.

I’ve had exactly one girls night in my life, and at that one I got to shoot a rocket launcher. Who knows what else we can get up to. “I’m in!” I yell, two hands up in the air.

“Dammit, woman!” Leo yells and I throw my head back and laugh.

Chapter 12

Judge

“Is it just me, or are things a little too quiet at the moment?” Rider asks, from his position on the recliner. Apparently shot asses and nipples deserve the best chair in the house.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Dex asks, from his position on the floor.

We’re all hanging out in the living room of the farmhouse, which we’re treating as a common room at this point. Since we made the decision to relocate the club here, we’ve been busy trying to reorganise the spaces. There are cabins being built on the property, close to the original Tombs ones, and there are also changes to the inside of the house. Church is in the dining room and chilling out is in here, with Pops’ obscenely large TV. The wall between this room and the empty room next door will be pulled down to make a common room large enough to hold a growing club. Unfortunately, we still haven’t gotten all the furniture delivered to make this room more comfortable, so the soft chairs and couches have already been taken. And if, like Dex, you don’t want to stand, you have to sit on the floor.

“I’m just saying it’s been weeks since we got rid of the last cartel member,” Rider’s eyes dart toward Sniper who stonewalls him completely, knowing full well that his brother is still alive in the new Rev Room, “and nothing. Not a whiff of trouble, which is weird because Judge has a kinda woman and they usually bring trouble.”

We all stare at him. “What?”

“What?” he asks, confused that we’re even questioning him.

“So, there were two big statements there, brother,” Rhodie starts. “First off, you’re whining because thereisn’tany trouble happening in our world, and second, you’re accusing our women of bringing trouble with them.”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m saying.”

“Well, we’re not one percenters, so it really doesn’t make any sense that we should have trouble on our doorstep every damned week anyway,” Wire points out.

“And yet, we do. Most of it is tied to the women,” Rider replies.”Well, except Kaia, but she hasn’t been here long enough to bring drama,”

“I dunno brother, I would say turning up with two fully grown twins was pretty dramatic,” Tank snorts.

“You leave my woman out of this!” I growl.

“You can’t say that if you haven’t claimed her yet.” Pops says, rolling his eyes.

“I have a plan. I just have to take my time. She’s skittish. Wary, like a rescue cat. If I come on too strong she’ll run.”

“After scratching your face up and shitting in your shoes,” Savage snorts.

Rider looks thoughtful, tipping his beer bottle back, taking a large gulp. “Maybe she’s skittish because she’s going to drop a big ol’ problem on our doorstep.”

I scowl at him. Rider is a good brother, but he loves stirring shit. “She’s not. She’s just a normal woman. Nothing dangerous about her.”

“Ah, I thought the same thing about Mira, dude. And that woman was being sent body parts,” Tank shudders.

Tav snorts so hard he almost chokes. “Brother, there is nothing normal about Mira. You met her in ajailcell.”
