“What about going back home?”
He shook his head. “There’s no one there I’m going back to. I planned on it because I had no other way to determine where to go when I finished. But…”
My blood thrummed, and my head felt light. This was a big deal. A huge deal. But we’d confessed our love. We’d planned to be together. And I’d enjoyed every moment of being with him the last few months.
“But…” I urged.
“I can change that plan. Based on… whatever factors I decide.”
And though he wouldn’t say it directly, he’d stay here with me. If it made sense when the time came. He wouldn’t pressure me now, but we could decide together.
My arms slipped around his back, and I hugged him to me, my cheek resting against his firm, delicious shoulder. When I pulled back, he had that peaceful, sweet look I loved seeing on him. “I look forward to seeing where we land.”
“Me too.”
