"Wrong answer." Luciano pushed Reynolds away from him and rose to his feet.
He was graceful like a majestic panther. He stalked towards me and leaned down to hold out his hand. I grabbed on, even though I didn't want to. Better with the devil you know and all that.
"You've been a naughty girl, fiore," Luciano rasped against my ear.
I shivered. I wasn't sure what he was planning on doing to me, but I knew it wasn't going to be pleasurable. We started walking away, leaving Officer Reynolds trembling in the dirt.
"Oh, one more thing." Luciano turned back and whipped out his gun, popping a hole into the officer's head. "Now we can go home," he said. I was almost shocked he didn't skip. His voice was that cheery as he took my hand. He pulled me along to the car and helped me get in. A driver was sitting in the front and Luciano climbed into the back seat with me.
"I didn't expect you to run again," he murmured.
"You k-killed a cop. You're going to get arrested," I shrieked.
Luciano threw his head back and laughed. He had a nice laugh. In another situation, I would think he was sexy, but he was the devil. He wasn't sexy. Not at all.
"I'm the mafia, baby. There will be no arrests. Officer Reynolds' will have closure, but it won't be connected with the famiglia."
He was so confident, like he did things like this all the time. My eyes widened at the very thought. He was mafia. He was a killer. He was going to kill me. I pulled away and tried the door. The damn thing had child locks. I unbuckled my seatbelt and climbed over the seat, flashing a pair of boxers I'd found and rolled up on my waist as I went. Luciano groaned in response. I climbed into the passenger seat and tried the door, but again, it wouldn't budge. I held back a scream of frustration.
"Let me go, you psycho," I snapped and climbed back into the backseat, throwing my hands at Luciano as soon as I got there.
"No," he said before I tried to scratch his eyes out.
He grabbed my hand and pulled it away from his face. He was smiling a little crazily. I tried to hit him again, but he grabbed me. Before I could blink, his hand snapped to my throat and he started to squeeze. I gasped, which didn't make it easier on me.
"You are mine until I see fit to give you back or kill you."
He shrugged his shoulders like the act of killing me was no big deal. His hand loosened and I could breathe again. There was nothing sexy about the way he was treating me. I wanted to fight him. I wanted to beat his ass and run as far away as I could. It didn't matter how many orgasms he could give me. He was bad news. He had no morals. He killed women and children. He had to. I bet he even tortured puppies.
"If you think I'm going to sit pretty and let you do whatever you want to me, then you have a whole world of hurt coming your way," I vowed.
"What will it take for you to stay without a fight?" He looked at me with sad puppy eyes, but I knew it was something he was faking.
A man like him didn't even feel emotions. I'd bet he was all monster underneath that good old boy exterior.
"There is nothing you could give me. I will never stop fighting you. Ever," I pledged.
Luciano looked into my eyes for a beat and then nodded his head before completely ignoring me. I was so confused. Was this part of his punishment? Did he believe me? Was he going to let me go?
The questions swirled in my mind, giving me a headache as I tried to figure out the silent man next to me. I still couldn't remember everything from the night before. What I did recall was fuzzy at best. It was feelings and impressions. My first ones were that this stranger was delectable and I wanted to lick every part of his huge body. He tricked me into being with him.
We pulled up to the compound and Luciano escorted me back to my cage. He closed me in and locked the door from the outside, leaving me with my dark thoughts. I curled up on the bed thinking that I wouldn't get out of this unscathed. This room may as well be my tomb.
