"You're right! We don't know how much longer I have!" He pops up, and rushes to the stairs.
"Presents?" Brody asks, crouching next to where I'm still on my knees and brushing a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Yes." I nod seriously, sitting back and crossing my legs. "He worked really hard on them. He poured his heart and soul into every single gift, so you better appreciate it."
"Okay!" Miles comes rushing down the stairs, his hands behind his back. "Everyone, close your eyes, hold out your hands, and don't look until I tell you to." Damien, Hunter, Kieran, and Brody comply, and I stifle my laugh as Miles puts a keychain in each of their outstretched palms. "Now you can look."
They open their eyes, one by one, and I want to giggle at all they're varying reactions. "Um…Miles?" Brody chokes out, his face red fromtrying not to laugh. He holds up the plastic resin keychain that has a pair of vampire fangs on them.
Now, when we bought them, they had said "Bite Me, Bitch." But Miles has scrawled a "please" at the top, and added the top half of a question mark above the period so it now reads "Please Bite Me, Bitch?"
"Yes?" Miles flutters his lashes and gives him his best innocent look.
"Is this how you're asking us to bond you?"
"Duh," Miles rolls his eyes before he bursts out laughing, and I can't help but join him. The looks on all their faces were priceless. Sensing it's safe, the others can't contain their laughter, especially when Damien realizes that his has been modified even further to read "Please BiteMeYOU, Bitch?"
"Well?" Miles hedges, looking around the room eagerly. "Will you all bond me?"
The resounding "yes" has Miles grinning like a fiend, and they all go in for a group hug. Then…the eyes fall on me.
"I…I didn't prepare any kind of cute gift," I say nervously, suddenly self conscious even though they all just watched me swallow Miles down. "I mean really, Miles stole the only good idea there is…."
"Bluebell…" Hunter breaks away, coming over to me. "Do you want us to bond you when your heat comes around?" Biting my lip, I nod. They won't be able to bond me until I'm the one in heat, since heat pheromones help with the healing time and reduce the chance of infection. "Yes, I—ah!" Pain slices through my lower abdomen, and I clutch my arms around myself, fighting the aching need that's growing to accompany the pain.
"Shit," Hunter hisses, kneeling down and pressing a hand against my forehead. "She's burning up too."
"No," I shake my head, but Hunter is already scooping me up. "I just had my heat, remember? I'm not due for another one yet—ah!" Another cramp rips through me, and I'm vaguely aware of Kieran carrying Miles up to the nest ahead of us.
"I was doing research on scent-matched omega pairs," Brody says lowly, "and the data was skewed, one, because there's so few of them, and two, because less than twenty percent ended up bonding to packs. But, the ones that did, ended up syncing their heats."
"Why didn't Miles go into heat when Bethany did last then?" Hunter asks lowly, reaching the top of the stairs.
"I don't know," Brody sighs. "It could be a number of things. Maybe it was because we weren'tallthere, so they didn't have all our scents. Maybe they need to be with the pack a certain amount of time before it happens, maybe his omega knew that Bethany needed someone to advocate for her. We might never know. But…it was always a possibility this would happen."
"And nobody thought to warn me?" I grumble shifting in Hunter's hold as my vision goes a little hazy. I don't hear their response, because I'm being put on the bed, and everything touching my skin is scratchy, and I just want it all off.
Now.
I rip Hunter's shirt off my back, but then hold it to my nose, breathing in his scent. Yes, that can go up top by my pillows…
Miles joins me a second later. "I'll strip them," he murmurs, before going to the edge of the nest and demanding each member of our pack removes their clothes. He gives me half while he takes the other half, and we work together to weave the clothes into our nests.
"It's not enough," I find myself close to tears, why isn't it enough? Another cramp rocks through me, and I hear Miles barking orders at our alphas and beta.
"Sheets! Towels! Bring me your hampers!"
They scatter, off to retrieve the items he “requested”.
Then he wraps his arms around me as I double over, my face pushing into the mattress. "Why is this happening, Miles? It hurts."
"Shh, shh, I know baby. I know it does. But our guys are getting more blankets and clothes okay? And then one of the alphas can knot you while another knots me, okay?" I look up at him, blinking the tears out of my eyes. "Why are you taking care of me, Miles? You're in heat too. In fact, I'm stealing your heat! This was supposed to be your thunder, your moment with everyone, and I'm...I'm…"
"No, nymph. Ilovetaking care of you. Besides, you took care of me ten minutes ago when you sucked my soul out through my dick, and you've had zero orgasms since you started cramping. So really, I'm in a better position to take care of you than you realize." A shaky laugh leaves me as his words sink in.
The guys come crashing back into the room, all their arms full of laundry. "Good. Good." Miles nods. "Dump it all on the bed."
They do, and focusing on making sure our nest is perfect for our first heat together drives away some of the pain. Then I weave Kieran's shirt in with Hunter's sweatpants, and suddenly…something clicks. The briefest moment of peace washes over me. The nest is complete.
