"We were so rudely interrupted when we saw you yesterday, we thought we might be able to have a more productive conversation…alone."

Gods, why is Stephanie still right there, watching our every move? If she weren't here, I could tell Pack Hansen to shove it.

"The only interruption I remember was when you four showed up at the restaurant where I wastryingto have a nice meal with my pack, spouting nonsense." My smile is still in place, my tone nothing but pleasant.

"Oh shit," Stephanie gasps, looking between the pack and me. "Is this your first pack? The ones who cheated on you?"

"The one and only." My smirk is real as I watch their faces contort in anger.

"What are you telling people, mouse?" Preston grits out, his eyes flashing dangerously.

"The truth." I cross my arms. "Anddon'tcall me that."

"Damn. Good thing you got out." She pats my back before turning and walking backwards towards the door. "I gotta bounce, but I'll let you guys know when I want to come back in." Stephanie waves as she shoves past the alphas, and when she's gone, all hell breaks loose.

Preston tries to get in my face, but Lanie steps in front of me.

"Get out of here, Douche Canoes," Lanie orders, pointing a finger towards the door.

"This is a government-owned building that provides a public service. We have every right to be here."

"Did you forget what my alpha told you last night?" I ask, peeking out from behind Lanie and wondering how I didn't see how horrible they were before. "He said he's filing a restraining order."

"Yeah, good luck finding a judge who will enforce that againstus." Chris sneers.

"Okay, how about I sue you for harassment instead?" I shoot back. "Countless voicemails, and now showing up at my place of work? I thought you guys were smarter than this."

Suddenly, a male voice rings out in the lobby, and my shoulders sink in relief. "Is there a problem here?"

Brennan.

Sometimes the OMS guards have training sessions in one of the back rooms. He must be coming to set up.

I've always liked Brennan, and his omega, Wren, is really fun to hang out with.

I can see the alphas in front of me stiffen before they turn to see who walked in. "Nah man," Grayson tries to sound nonchalant as he turns to face him, "Just trying to talk to our omega real quick."

"Your omega?" Brennan's brows shoot up. "Christy? Lanie?" He looks past Pack Hansen to the two betas. "Did either of you turn into an omega when I wasn't looking?" They both shake their heads, Christy's more frantic and with a worried look on her face, but Lanie smirks. Brennan turns his attention back to Grayson. "Okay then, bud, looks like you don't have an omega here. Now, I don't know if anyone explained this to you or not, but at the OMS, the omegas have to pick you first. You can't just show up and grab any omega you want."

"We knowthat—" Preston snaps, but Brennan rounds on him.

"I don't think you do. Because the only other option would be that you're harassing an omega in her place of work who already has a pack—and it's no longer you. If that were the case, I'd have to call the police. Or take care of things myself." His last words have a threatening undertone, and it sends a little shiver of foreboding through even me.

My previous pack puffs up their chests, like they might try to take him on, and too bad they don't, because that's the moment the rest of the guards employed by the OMS start trickling into the building.

Pack Hansen shrinks in on themselves pretty quickly after that. "We were just leaving," Preston sneers before jerking his head towards me. "It was just beginning to smell like rodent in here anyway. We're not done here, mouse."

Brennan takes a quick step forward, making them jump. "What the hell did you just say?"

When they stammer, backing away, Brennan follows them. "Get the fuck out of this building and don't come back." They scurry away like dogs with tails between their legs and Brennan shakes his head, coming over to me. "You okay, Beth?"

Swallowing roughly, I nod. "Yeah, I'm fine." Then I give him a weak smile, wrapping one arm around Lanie. "My bestie had my back."

"I bet she did." He smiles at the two of us before ruffling our hair.

"Hey!" We cry out, knocking his hands away.

He chuckles before growing serious again. "Is that the first time they've come here?"
