I laughed and swiped at her tears. “Nope, sorry. Now you will have to accept me into your life.” I rolled my eyes. “You aren’t getting a prize either. According to my brothers, I’m arrogant and full of myself. I’m bullheaded and I say what I think and most times what I say pisses people off. You might get sick of me real quick actually.

She stared at me through bloodshot eyes as she shook her head. “So, this is for real? You don’t care…you want me anyways?”

I chuckled some more. “I just got through telling you that. I want you. I want you to stay with me. I’m sorry if this comes as a shock, but I don’t intend to ever let you go.”

She sat very still and kept studying me as if she still couldn’t be sure. Then she grabbed my face with both hands and said, “I am not used to…” She paused. “Feeling happy? Or being happy. I’m sorry. I’m not good at it, I suppose?”

I slowly leaned in close and said, “Get used to it because I plan on making you happy. This is real. I am…all in baby.”

Kissing me deeply, she wrapped her arms around me as I kissed her back just as desperately. The woman fit so well in my arms, I loved the feel of her body up close to mine. I wanted her to sleep by my side every night and for her to be there every morning.

A knock came on the door and we broke apart. I got up and went over to open it.

Talon stood there. “After dinner, you need to come to the Rebel Saints barn.” He looked around me to see Cinnamon sitting on the bed. He stared at her then at me.

I opened my mouth to reply.

Pushing me aside, he came into the room to look at Cinnamon more closely. She had tears streaking her cheeks. He turned and glared at me. “What the fuck did I tell you?”

I paused and cocked my head at him. “What are you talking abou—”

Rushing me, he slammed me up against the wall. “I told you that if you hurt her, I would kick your fucking ass!”

“Talon!” Cinnamon rushed over. “Stop. He did not hurt me!”

He slowly turned his head as he kept a hold of my shirt collar.

I pushed him off of me. I got it that he was protective of her, but he wasn’t going to make me back down either.

“I told him everything and he…” She started crying again.

Growling, Talon stepped over to the door. “Let’s take this outside,” he growled at me. “Be prepared to get hurt, fucker.”

“Bring it then asshole,” I replied with my own growl. “Since you refuse to listen, I’m ready to beat you down.”

“Stop it, both of you!” Cinnamon exclaimed. “He accepted it, Talon. He doesn’t care.”

Turning, Talon looked at her. “What?”

“He wants me anyway. I-I don’t understand it myself. But he is fine with it.”

Talon looked from her to me. “This true?”

I nodded. “It is. Man, no one will ever hurt this girl again. If they do, I will tear them apart.”

He studied me for a full minute. Then he let out a relieved breath.

“I get it,” I told him. “I do. I plan to give her all the good in life that I can.”

He gave me a nod and glanced over at Cinnamon. “Good, that is what she deserves.” He cleared his throat and added, “Ma has dinner ready then we have a meeting.”

“We’ll be down soon,” I told him.

Talon went out and shut the door.

“Oh, my God! Why did he do that?” Cinnamon asked.

I chuckled and tried to straighten my shirt out. “I would do the same for you. I admit I wanted to kick his ass, but he’s not as stiff or assholish as I first thought.”
