Liberty smiled. “Oh, you mean the general? Sure, he okayed us.”

I kept walking as I replied, “He didn’t do a long interview?”

“Hell yeah, he did,” Prophet answered this. “What weapons we can use, had we been trained in combat, yada-yada.”

Liberty laughed. “I was surprised we didn’t get put through a lie detector test or some shit.”

“Yeah, he could have drawn blood and tested it to see if we had enough testosterone,” Prophet said with a laugh.

We went out and headed to the barn where all the Rebel Saints were set up. When we got there, we saw lots of men and lots of activity.

Talon saw us and nodded then he told us all about the teams, where each would be and in what order the plan would unfold.

I had to admit, he knew his stuff. Despite all the teasing we did about the guy, you couldn’t help but admire his dedication, and knowledge.

The plan was set, wearing tactical gear for the first time in five years, I felt like I was in the middle of a war again. Hell, I was. Only this was about family, and family was at my side too. Prophet and Liberty along with Talon, Hawk and Dagger. Then there were the specialists Keys, Ranger and Tank. Talon told me of them earlier. They would lead. We also had six other men who were Rebel Saints. They would lay cover fire and shoot anyone taking shots at us if we were spotted.

We pulled off the county road and dimmed our lights as we drove along what Talon had said was a cattle driving road, only it looked more like a path, all dirt and rough as all hell. With potholes galore, it made your teeth rattle in your mouth.

Finally, the road came to an end. We parked and got out.

“We have a mile to traverse,” Talon spoke up. “So it’s just a sprint for us. Don your night goggles and don’t trip over a fucking bush or something.”

The men all stared at him.

“Man, you think we’re idiots?” Hawk asked. “I know this is a mission dude, but leave the asshole general act at home, will ya?”

Talon looked over at his brother and shrugged.

“He can't, brother,” Dagger told his twin. “It is now a part of his DNA.”

The men all laughed, including Talon.

Then we went silent and headed out across the dark landscape. It took us less than 5 minutes to make that mile, all of us weren’t even breaking a sweat nor did we even breathe heavily. I felt relieved that we were with well trained men. We were all bikers, but the kind that you did not mess with. Deacon and his men were about to learn that lesson the hard fucking way.

We were now within sight of the Connor House. We slowed to a stop.

Talon and the rest of us had comms, so Talon spoke to the men at the bridge, “Tact Two to Tact One.”

“Tact One here,” came the response. “We got six at the back and the same at the front. The boss left 5 minutes ago.”

“Deacon?” Talon said.

“Affirmative,” came the reply.

I was fuming, where the hell did Deacon go?

“Is the package secure?” Talon asked.

“Affirmative, Ace has her sig. But he added one.”

“Another package?” Talon asked.

“Affirmative. Ace has coordinates, room on west end.”

“Hangfire,” Talon replied.Wait until you’re given the next orders.

“Fuck,” I whispered. They had a second hostage?
