Men from all over and myself all winced with her shout as it pinged in our ears. “Baby, don’t yell. It’s just a nick.”

“Oh, yeah?” she came back on. “A nick is when I cut my leg shaving. Your shoulder is covered in blood!”

We all again flinched at her yelling and I saw several men taking their comms out of their ears.

“He won’t listen!” Glory said into a comm she had in her hand.

“Ace, take that comm away from her,” I ordered.

“He can't, he likes his face just the way it is,” Cinnamon spoke again. “Someone take care of him now! Or I will be screaming!”

Men headed over to me as I looked up at Glory.

She grinned at me. “I don’t know who she is but I like her!”

I rolled my eyes.

One of the Rebel Saints was checking my shoulder. “Man, you caught a bullet. I can’t tell if it’s a through and through.”

I remembered his name was Bones as I looked over at my shoulder then up at him. “I don’t feel it.”

“Lucky you then,” Bones replied. “You don’t feel dizzy? You lost a lot of blood here.”

I shook my head and paused. “Well, now that you brought it up.” I then felt the world spin around me as I fell. The last thing I heard was Cinnamon screaming over the comm, “Redemption!”Damn, I wish that girl would shut the hell up.Then everything went black.

Chapter Twenty-One:A Stick Of Dynamite

Jarret suggested that we go to the security room to watch the rescue.

“And how are we going to do that?” Ma asked him.

“That Ace you all got in the hole?” Jarret replied. “The man is a wizard, Bea. He has cameras on the men’s shoulders and video feed coming from the bridge.”

Ma looked surprised. “Well, bless my stars. Logan is a gift that’s for sure. But I don’t know if I can watch it. Might be too heart stoppin’ for me.”

“Ok, Bea. I understand,” Jarret said and patted her arm as he looked over at me.

I stood from my chair. “I need to watch. This is dangerous for him.”

Jarret stared at me.

I shrugged. “All I can think about is him getting hurt.” I paused. “He’s just too important for me to lose.” I didn’t realize it but my hands were shaking. Clasping them together I said, “I know Glory is in danger, I do. But if she’s…” My voice faded away. “He’s gonna need me, so let’s go.”

Jarret reached out and patted my arm too. “Don’t ever change the way you are, little girl. Cause whatever it is my son sees in you is important too.”

Ma chuckled. “Is that one of those backhanded compliments, Jarret?”

He shook his head. “I don't do those, Bea.”

She snickered. “Yeah, I know. You always were what they call forthright.”

He stared at her. “Not always,” he said under his breath.

I got the feeling he was talking about their past. I wondered how his children, especially Redemption, were going to feel about this when it came out. Oh, I knew it would come out eventually just by the look in Jarret’s eyes. He intended to stay with Ma. It would mean a royalshit hitting the fanevent. But he was a man who wouldn’t be denied. A lot like his son, if truth be told.

He turned and left the kitchen.
