“What?” Talon came over.

“Stalker ex!” I exclaimed.

“Camaro stopping, next to the Buick,” Talon said. “He’s talking to her.”

“Shit, I’m getting out,” I said as I grabbed the handle for the trunk contraption and pushed. Light blinded me from the outside afternoon sun as I struggled to get into the backseat. As soon as I came up, I saw Scarlet opening the driver’s door. “No!”

“You traitorous bitch!” The Wade guy yelled as he opened his car door, grabbed Scarlet to pull her onto his lap and took off, barely shutting his car door.

“Block him off, Rebels!” Talon said over the comm.

I got behind the wheel of the Buick and started it up, just as Liberty jumped over the seat into the passenger’s side. I saw the tail end of the Camaro as it turned up the street. “Fuck!” I muttered.

“Camaro turning in at that car wash,” Keys came over.

“He’s got a hostage, stay back,” Talon said.

“The hell I am!” I drove as fast as the Buick could go. I couldn’t believe what was happening. He had her. The man who’d beaten her up, had her. I screeched around the corner. I saw the bikes and an SUV as they were circling the car wash.

“He has to be here,” Talon said.

“No sign on south side,” a voice came over.

“None on the east,” Dagger said.

“None on the street beyond,” Keys said.

“Anyone see the Camaro go in?” Talon asked.

No answer came.

Without any hesitation, I drove in through the car wash itself and the roller brushes were off. No water either, so I had to stop right at the entrance practically. “He has to be here,” I said. “What does her tracker say?” I asked in desperation.

“It was pinging right there inside,” Talon replied over the comm.

Liberty opened the car door, but it was too narrow for him to get out.

“Stop that, I need to back up,” I snapped at him and shoved the car into reverse as he shut the door instantly. Backing out, I stopped the car and jumped out. Heading back into the car wash line, I moved in and out of the large brushes, looking for a door or any way out other than the car exit at the far end.

Liberty was moving along on the other side, doing the same thing.

“Tracker is gone,” Talon said over the comm.

I halted and asked, “What?”

“Sorry, Justice. It blipped out,” he explained.

“Blipped out?” I growled as I raised my head to see the men getting off their bikes, searching the area around the car wash lot.

Talon arrived and headed into the wash alley.

I looked up at him and asked, “What could have happened to her tracker?” My heart was pounding so hard I felt like I’d run a marathon. I refused to accept that she was gone.

“It was found or…” He knelt down and looked around at the ground area. “It’s now underground. Under metal.”

I stared at him then I too, looked down. “So there’s some kind of…” I saw the seam of a metal door. “Shit!” I dropped to my knees and looked at the metal plate. It was big.

Talon took a few steps back while looking at it as well. “It is big enough for a car to drop down.”
