“But how?” Liberty asked from behind me.

“Some mechanism,” Talon muttered as he scanned the walls.

“Liberty,” I said. “Take that wall and I’ll take this one.” I turned and moved around the massive car brushes again, squeezing my body by them to search along the walls.

“Found it,” Talon called out. “Step back.”

“To where?” Liberty called out.

“Move out, Liberty!” I yelled at him as I moved as fast as I could to get to the exit before the world dropped away from my feet.

A huge metallic screeching echoed out, then it stopped.

I headed back as quickly as I could to gaze down at an abyss and then I tipped forward.

Talon grabbed me up before I fell in. “Watch it.”

I leaned a bit closer and peered down to pitch darkness.

“We need lights,” Talon said into his comm, he then shook his head and looked over at me. “Who is Wade Stephens?”

“Scarlet’s first boyfriend. He became possessive and stalked her. Beat the hell out of her even after she had a restraining order on him.”

“Served four years in Louisiana State Correctional Facility,” Logan came over the comm. “Was supposed to serve ten years.”

“How did he get out?” I asked as I grabbed a flashlight from a biker that had just stepped up closer.

“Someone from the FBI got him out 3 weeks ago as a Federal witness, can’t find the name, it’s blacked out.”

“Fucking Deacon,” Talon said.

“So, it is him?” Liberty asked.

“Yeah,” Talon replied in disgust.

I moved up next to Talon. “I’m going down.

“Wait a minute, Justice,” Talon said.

“No, she’s been gone for ten fucking minutes, Talon! No waiting.”

He grabbed my arm. “Deacon lays traps just like his mother. Deadly traps.”

I clenched my fists at my sides. “So what do we do?”

“I’ll do it,” someone said from behind us.

We turned our heads to see two men, one of them was very large.

“This is Tank and Ranger,” Talon said.

They both moved forward and I could immediately tell who Tank was.

“Move,” Tank told me.

I glared at him but did so.

Tank held a device in his hand as he spanned it over the abyss area.
